Oneka Cedar & Sage Shampoo & Conditioner

Hello, hello!

Today I’m reviewing the Cedar & Sage Shampoo & Conditioner from Oneka – they’re a Quebec (Canada) company that is organic and cruelty free.

Oneka Cedar & Sage Shampoo & Conditioner

Oneka’s all natural personal care products were created out of a respect for our water sources and the many organisms that help clean and purify it along its way. Rather than causing damage or polluting; Oneka products work WITH the elements of nature. We do this by using certified organic and wild harvested herbal extracts to nourish the hair and body without the use of sulphates, parabens, or synthetic fragrances.

Oneka Cedar & Sage Shampoo & Conditioner

Now onto the Cedar & Sage Shampoo & Conditioner:

Take a deep breath of the Boreal forest’s rich, earthy scent and enjoy our cedar and sage shampoo [and conditioner], specially formulated to help revitalize your scalp naturally. Your hair will absorb the cedar, known for its antibacterial properties, for a deep cleansing effect. The sage, known to help balance sebum production, blends with the hemlock, burdock, and nettle extracts to invigorate and stabilize. Go ahead – let the scent of the forest soothe your soul and amplify your senses.

Both the shampoo and conditioner smell amazing – I love the woody, earthy scent.

Recently my scalp has been very sensitive – probably due to the cold winter weather and  hat wearing. The shampoo makes my hair feel super clean and my scalp feels soothed and refreshed. The conditioner feels light and hydrating. My hair feels super soft after using this shampoo & conditioner duo, and my scalp is no longer feeling easily irritated.

And a lot of stores that carry Oneka have refill stations – so you can just pay for a refill instead of buying new bottles – so yay, less plastic waste to be recycled!

Naturelle Cosmetics Organic & Cruelty Free Review (Part 2)

Hello, hello!

This is the final part of my Naturelle Cosmetics review. Part 1 is here.

I was contacted by Naturelle Cosmetics, a UK based company that sells organic and cruelty free skincare, bodycare, haircare and cosmetic products. Today I’m reviewing one of their Royal Coffee Scrubs, in the Cinnamon Vanilla scent.

Naturelle Cosmetics - Royal Coffee Scrub

The scrubs are available in six different scents: Chocolate Orange, Cinnamon Vanilla, Coconut, Lavender Mint, Tea Tree and Ylang Ylang.

Apart from your daily cup of coffee, what else do you know about coffee? Do you know that it have amazing benefits for your skin? Yes, this is true. Coffee scrubs have been on the rise in the recent years as natural skin treatments. […] The Coffee Scrub is a combination of various natural ingredients that will definitely rejuvenate your skin. Among the main components include the seed powder from both coffee Arabica and Coffee Robusta which are the two main varieties of coffee. To make a coffee scrub from the powders, avocado, cinnamon and jojoba oils are added. Almond seeds are also added to bring in its antioxidant properties while vanilla brings in the flavor. All these ingredients are natural, and thus they are not associated with harmful side effects. The Naturelle Cosmetics’ Cinnamon Vanilla will have numerous benefits to your skin.

These benefits include: minimized cellulite, skin brightening, exfoliation, and improved circulation.

I love body scrubs, but I have only ever used sugar and salt based scrubs so this was a completely new experience for me! Upon opening the package, my bathroom smelled like coffee with cinnamon and vanilla. Very uplifting and energizing!

It looked so messy when my skin was covered in the coffee scrub, but once rinsed off, my skin was soft and smooth.  The Royal Coffee Scrub does make a bit of a mess in the bottom of the shower / tub, but nothing that a couple of splashes of water can’t fix.

Do you like coffee scrubs?

Thanks for reading and have a beautiful day! ❤

Naturelle Cosmetics Organic & Cruelty Free Review (Part 1)

Hello, hello!

I’m posting this from the airport. I am hoping to keep to my regular blogging schedule – the only difference is that it might take me a little longer to reply to comments as I’ll probably only be checking first thing in the morning and again just before I go to bed.

I was contacted by Naturelle Cosmetics, a UK based company that sells organic and cruelty free skincare, bodycare, haircare and cosmetic products to see if I wanted to test out a few of their products.

The first product is a Purifying Shampoo with Grapefruit Seed, made by Biokem, and Italian company.

Naturelle Cosmetics - Biokem Purifying Shampoo

Here’s what it says on the website:

This purifying shampoo with grapefruit seed is your hair’s weapon against pollution and impurities, keeping it free from dandruff, flaky and rough hair and other hair and scalp issues. It is highly recommended among those suffering from dermatitis, dandruff and other scalp problems, too.

Apart from these, this purifying shampoo with grapefruit seed is also for healthy hair, promoting its bounce and vitality. It is also perfect as hair deodorizer with its sweet and fresh aroma.  This product is also a top seller for its hair cleansing effect, removing all salts, dirt and chlorine build up in the hair and scalp.

While eliminating all types of hair and scalp problems, the product is so effective in bringing hair luster and smoothness that you can wear all day. Without any artificial fragrances, this can make your hair smelling clean and fresh longer.

This clarifying shampoo smells so bright, fresh and citrusy! It leaves my hair feeling super clean, without feeling stripped, despite not lathering up super well.  I have a sensitive scalp, and this shampoo made my scalp happy.

I find that citrus based shampoos make my hair super shiny, which is always a good thing! Because I colour my hair, I can’t use clarifying shampoo too often, as it will make the colour fade too quickly. But it is good for removing product and dye build-up before I colour my hair.

Ingredients: Aqua, Sodium Lauroyl Sarcosinate, Lauryl Glucoside, Glycerin, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Algin, Maris Sal (Dead Sea salts), Arctium Lappa Root Extract, Citrus Grandis Seed Extract, Potassium Sorbate, Sodium Benzoate, Fragrance, Citrus Grandis Peel Oil, Rosmarinus officinalis Leaf Oil, Melaleuca alternifolia Oil, Limonene, Linalool, Citral.

Thanks for reading and have a beautiful day! ❤

Consonant Ultra Moisturizing Organic Face Cream Review

Consonant Ultra Moisturizing Organic Face Cream

Hello, hello!

Today I’m reviewing another one from Consonant Skincare – the Ultra Moisturizing Organic Face Cream. This product came from the amazing (skin)care package sent to me by Stashy from Stash Matters. You should follow her, she is a makeup and skincare expert!

Onto the review! Here’s what it says on the website about the Ultra Moisturizing Organic Face Cream:

Lightweight, persistent hydration for normal, combination and oily skin. This lightweight formula penetrates quickly with a non-greasy finish. Your skin will look and feel healthier, more radiant and youthful from the very first use. Non-comedogenic.

I have to say that the description is very true. It is a very lightweight moisturizer, the consistency is very light for a cream type formulation.

It is highly moisturizing without being greasy. Although my skin is more on the normal to dry side, this facial cream adds enough moisture that my skin doesn’t need anything heavier.

Below is the ingredient list, in case the photo of the packaging is not clear enough to read:

Aqua/Water, Glyceryl Stearate, Vitis Vinifera Seed Oil* (Grape Seed Oil), Angustifolia Seed Polysaccharide, Niacinamide, Butyrospermum Parkii* (Shea Butter), Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride (Coconut Oil), Tocopheryl Acetate, Glycerin, Cassia Olea Europea Seed Oil* (Olive Oil), Persea Gratissima Seed Oil* (Avocado Oil), Borago Officinalis Seed Oil* (Borage Oil), Oenothera Biennis Seed Oil* (Primrose Oil), Cetyl Alcohol, Linum Usitatissimum* (Flaxseed Oil), Simmondsia Chinensis Seed Oil* (Jojoba Oil), Lactoperoxidase, Glucose Oxidase, Algae*, Panax Ginseng Root Extract*, Chamomilla Recutita Leaf Extract* (Chamomile), Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract*, Echinacea Angustifolia Leaf Extract*, Cucumis Sativus Extract* Cucumber), Rosemarinus Officinalis Extract*, Calophyllum Tacamahaca (Tamanu Oil), Alpha Bisabolol, Malileuca Alternifolia Leaf Oil (Tea Tree Oil), Lecithin, Xanthan Gum, Citric Acid.   *Certified organic oils and extracts  100% Natural

Just look at all of the skin-friendly ingredients – the various seed and nut oils, algae, ginseng, chamomile, aloe, cucumber, echinacea, and rosemary! No wonder my skin is so happy!

I think that this facial cream would work well for all skin types, especially sensitive skin, unless you have an allergy / sensitivity to certain ingredients. This cream contains Tee Tree Oil which is often a trigger for me, but the concentration must be low enough that it doesn’t bother my skin at all!

I highly recommend this face cream if you want lightweight, yet effective, natural and organic hydration.

Thanks for reading and have a beautiful day! ❤

Consonant Skincare DHE Mask Review

Consonant Skincare DHE Mask

Hello, hello!

I have several skincare items that I will be reviewing over the next week or so that arrived in a surprise care package (skincare, that is) from the lovely Stashy from Stash Matters! If you aren’t following her yet, change that immediately, she is a makeup and skincare EXPERT. I’ve tried several things upon her recommendation, and have yet to be disappointed!

Today I’m reviewing the DHE Mask from Consonant Skincare. Consonant Skincare is a Canadian brand, based in Toronto, Ontario. Here’s a little bit of an introduction to the brand, taken from their company philosophy page:

Consonant Skincare is Canada’s leading line of premium skin care that is as luxurious as the most expensive fashion label brand, as effective as the best-known cosmeceutical brand, and as healthy as the leading natural brand. Our regimen is edited and effortless. We believe you should not have to make any sacrifices to achieve your best skin. All of our products are 100% natural, and formulated with the highest possible concentration of organic botanical ingredients. But they are still skin care, not salad dressing: They improve the look of your skin with results you will notice immediately. When you use our natural regimen, healthy and radiant skin will be revealed without the use of synthetic ingredients. No parabens, no sulfates, no petroleum ingredients, and certainly no phthalates.

The DHE Mask is the only facial mask that they currently offer. Here’s what it says on the website:

The DHE mask is a uniquely multitasking, 100% natural mask that has been formulated to Detoxify, Hydrate and Exfoliate. Mineral-rich Manicouagan Clay, extracted from the site of a 215 million year old asteroid crash in Quebec, detoxifies and clarifies skin with the help of Willow Bark and Tea Tree Extracts. Potent Cassia Angustifolia, Grape Seed and Olive Oils nourish and deliver optimal hydration making skin plump, firm and beautifully radiant. A unique blend of Alpha Hydroxy Acid fruit enzymes gently exfoliate, revealing the softer and smoother skin underneath. The result is brighter, healthier, and younger looking skin from the very first use.

When I first applied this clay-based facial mask, my skin began to tingle, which always makes me nervous with my sensitive skin, because a tingle can quickly turn into a full-on face melting experience. Thankfully, the tingle dissipated quickly, making the 30 minutes go by without further incident. I find that a lot of clay masks tend to make my skin feel dry afterwards, but this one makes my skin feel hydrated, smooth and radiant. Despite having some tea tree oil in the ingredient list, my skin did not react badly like it normally does, which leaves me to suspect that it is the amount, or concentration, of Tea Tree oil that triggers a reaction. Pure Tea Tree oil makes my skin turn into an itchy sunburn-like redness, but this mask did not leave my skin red or itchy!

This is a beautiful facial mask. I believe that it is suitable for all skin types unless you have sensitivities or allergies to certain ingredients.

Consonant Skincare DHE Mask

I’m torn between this facial mask and the one from Sukin for my favourite! I guess that it is a tie!

Have you tried this facial mask? What is your favourite facial mask?

Thanks for reading and have a beautiful day! ❤
