August 2016 Empties

August 2016 Empties

Hello, hello!

It’s time for my monthly empties post. I’ve really been trying to finish up some of the things in my stash rather than let them go to waste.

August 2016 Empties

Haircare:

August 2016 Empties

Haus of Gloi Hair Oil in Aether (unscented) – I have another one in my stash with the Cozy Sweater scent to use up. I really love this hair oil, and mostly use it in the cooler months. Original review is here.

Co Lab Dry Shampoo in Rio scent – This one has already been replaced. I finished one of these last month as well.

Zabana Essentials Dry Shampoo in Lavender Citrus Mint – It works really well, but I find the delivery system to be too messy, so I won’t be replacing this one. Original review is here.

Alterna Caviar CC Cream – This has been in my stash forever. I finally used it up! I won’t be replacing this one as I don’t think that this brand is cruelty free.

Skincare:

August 2016 Empties

Personnelle Brand Cosmetic Pads – Great for removing eye makeup and nail polish. I usually just buy whatever ones are one sale. These have already been replaced.

Oz Naturals Amino Herbal Hydration Mask – I really loved this mask. I haven’t replaced it yet, as I have a few facial masks to use up before I buy any new ones. Original review is here.

Not Soap, Radio When life gives you too many lemons (and you’ve misplaced your happy place…) Joy Inducing Hand / Body Lotion – I received this in my July Ipsy Glam Bag, and LOVED it. I have several hand and body lotions to use up, so I won’t be replacing this one for awhile, but it is added to my wish list. The review is here.

Make-up:

August 2016 Empties

Pur Volume Vixen 4-in-1 Mascara – I got this at the Generation Beauty event in May. This mascara doesn’t work well for me, and it has been abut 3 months since I first opened it, so it is going onto the trash. I won’t be replacing this one. Original review is here.

Brazen Triple Threat Antioxidant Skin Perfecting Primer – I got this primer just before I started blogging. Despite the brownish tone of this primer, it goes on clear. I really liked this primer but have a few in my stash to use up before even thinking about purchasing another one. I’ve never actually reviewed this primer.

So there you have it, all of my empties for the month of August. Thanks for reading and have a beautiful day! ❤

Reminder – My giveaway closes tomorrow at noon (eastern standard time). If you haven’t entered it yet, what are you waiting for? Go here to enter!

Disclosure: All things were purchased by me with the exception of the Pur mascara which I received at the Gen Beauty Event (that I purchased the ticket for).

June 2016 Empties

Hello, hello!

Can you believe that June is nearly over already? This year is flying by so quickly!

June 2016 Empties

This was supposed to be yesterday’s post, but I was away over the weekend, and didn’t get my photos taken and edited until this morning. Oh well, better late than never!

Onto the empties – I finished up quite a few products this month. I’ve been really trying to clear out my stash of things before buying new ones.

Nuworld Botanicals Stress Relief Multi-Mineral Bath Soak* – I loved these bath salts, and once I finish clearing up my stash, I plan on replacing them. Original review is here.

Caprina Fresh Goat’s Milk Foaming Milk Bath+ – I received this as a birthday gift in April. I don’t think that I reviewed this one already but it was ok. I had to use nearly half a bottle to get a decent amount of foam to happen. I probably won’t purchase this one.

Haus of Gloi Haus Amber Pumpkin Butter – I absolutely LOVE Haus of Gloi stuff! I have a few more Pumpkin Butters in my stash to use up, but I’ll definitely replace them once finishing up a few more.

Oz Naturals Sweet Almond and Macadamia Nut Body Butter* – I loved this one, especially on days that I did not want to wear a scented product. I would buy this one again, but not until I clear out my stash. Original review is here.

Haus of Gloi Bubbling Scrubs in Snow Wolf and S’mores – I will always buy the Bubbling Scrubs from Haus of Gloi. I LOVE THEM. Again, I have a few more in my stash, but as soon as I’m nearly finished, I’ll be making a Haus haul. I don’t think that I’ve ever reviewed these scrubs, I’ll have to put that on my list!

Lush Rehab Shampoo (Restauration) and Veganese Conditioner (Vegetalien) – I would buy the Rehab Shampoo again, but the Veganese Conditioner is too light for my crazy mane of hair. Original reviews are here.

John Frieda Brilliant Brunette Visibly Brighter Shampoo and Conditioner* – I did like both of these as they really helped keep my hair colour bright and refreshed. I’m testing out some new shampoo / conditioner combinations right now, so I’m not going to be replacing these ones any time soon. Original review is here.

Paula’s Choice Skin Recovery Hydrating Treatment Mask – This is one of my holy grail skincare items for winter. But really, any time my skin needs a moisture boost. I’ll be buying this one again in the fall / winter. Original review is here.

Shiseido Facial Cotton+ – These cushy facial cotton pads were a part of the runner-up prize that I won from Stashy’s awesometastic giveaway. These are super mega luxurious! I’m sad that they are gone, because even though I loved them, I normally buy whichever ones are on sale. Original review is here.

Paula’s Choice Resist Cellular Defence Daily Moisturizer with SPF 25 – I liked wearing this with just powder, but it did not play nicely with liquid foundation. I’ve had this for quite awhile now and the last bit started to go off, so into the empties bin with this one. I probably won’t replace it, as I prefer to use a higher SPF.

Skinfix Inc Ultra Rich Body Butter* – Another beautiful body butter, so rich but not at all greasy. This one is totally stash worthy. I’ll be picking one up! Original review is here.

Au Naturale Creme Concealer – I haven’t used this one in ages. I remember really liking it when I got it. But it has since dried out so it is getting pitched (and the container will be recycled). Original review is here.

Elf BB Cream – I really liked this one, but won’t be re-purchasing as I prefer a high SPF in my BB Creams. It worked well with my skin and didn’t feel too heavy. Original review is here.

Thanks for reading and have a beautiful day! ❤

I’ll be back on Thursday with my June Favourites – I know, my Monday, Wednesday, Friday schedule is off this week. Next week I plan on returning to my usual schedule.

Disclosure: Most (but not all) of these products were purchased by me.Products marked with an asterix * are either freebies or PR samples given for testing and review purposes. Products marked with a plus sign + are either personal blog giveaway loot or were gifted to me.

April 2016 Empties

April 2016 Empties

Hello, hello!

Can you believe that April is nearly over already? Just a few products used up this month:

April 2016 Empties

Hair and Body Care:

April 2016 Empties

The Body Shop, Deep Sleep Comforting Milk Bath Float – I loved this foaming bath milk. If I didn’t have a stash of bath and body products to use up, I would buy this one again. The original review is here.

The Body Shop, Wild Rose Hand Cream – I loved this hand cream, but the metal tube cracked and split open before I was finished using it. Not only did it leak hand cream every time I used it, it was sharp enough to slice open my finger. I won’t repurchase this unless they change to a different packaging. The original review is here.

Consonant, Intensive Therapy Organic Hand Cream – Stashy sent this one to me as a part of her Totally Awesome Giveaway. I love, love, loved this hand cream. I will be purchasing a replacement the next time that I make an order from well.ca. The original review is here.

CO LAB, sheer invisible dry shampoo in Rio scent – This is my second can of this dry shampoo. It works well and I like the scent. I’ll be picking up a replacement this afternoon. The original review is here in my March Empties post.

Skincare Empties:

April 2016 Empties

Oz Naturals, Hyaluronic Acid Facial Serum – I’ve gone through several of these serums since my first purchase. Love this stuff. I’m currently testing out some other products right now, but will likely re-purchase this at some point as it works so well with my finicky skin. The original review is here.

Naruko, Rose & Botanic HA Aqua Cubic Night Gelly EX – this stuff is so amazing. I love the rose scent (true rose, not cloying synthetic rose scent). It made my skin so soft, smooth and glowing. I’m currently testing out some other products right now, but will likely purchase this at some point as it works so well with my skin. The original review is here.

Oz Naturals, Vitamin C Facial Cleanser – I liked this cleanser more than the Ocean Minerals one. It worked well for my sensitive skin. I might repurchase at some point, but I’m testing out some new things right now. The original review is here.

Make-up Empties:

Both liquid liners are from Essence. I didn’t use them very often and the pen dried out, and the wand got clumpy – both from lack of use. Despite having a big love for Essence, I won’t be repurchasing either of these liners. The original reviews are here.

That’s all for now. Thanks for reading and have a beautiful day! ❤

March 2016 Empties

March Empties

Hello, hello! I cannot believe that it April already!

I managed to finish up a few things in my stash this month.

Haircare:

March Empties - Haircare

I’ve reviewed the Not Your Mother’s Way to Grow Long & Strong Shampoo and Conditioner as a part of my Project Focus 10 Collab (reviews are here and here). I will probably buy these again once I use up whatever other shampoos and conditioners that I have in my stash. Or I might try one of the other shampoo / conditioner combos in their range. I really want to try their Beach Babe Soft Waves spray, and their Clean Freak Dry Shampoo.

I haven’t actually reviewed the COLAB dry shampoo in Rio (tropical scent) yet. But it works well with my crazy wavy hair when I want to go an extra day without washing it. It leaves my hair feeling fresh, and adds volume. It says on the package that the scent is papaya and pineapple but I only smell the pineapple, thank goodness as I really dislike the scent of papaya.  I’ve already purchased a replacement in same scent.

Skincare & Makeup:

March Empties - Skincare & Makeup

I finished up quite a few makeup and skincare products this month, most of which I have reviewed on the blog previously.

The two lipsticks, aren’t technically empties, but they are getting pitched as both of them have dried out and the scent is starting to go off (both are more than a year old). Despite that, I did love both the Milani Color Statement Lipstick in Violet Volt, and the Kat Von D Studded Kiss Lipstick in Wonderchilde. I’ve swatched them both previously, you can see them here. I haven’t replaced either of them as of yet, because my list of lipsticks that I want to try is suuuuuuper long.

I’m sad that I’ve used up the Andalou Naturals Pumpkin Honey Glycolic Mask. I loved this and used it at least once a week from the time that I purchased it. The original review is here. I haven’t replaced it yet, but probably will after I knock a few other masks off of my wish list.

The OZ Naturals Retinol Serum. This took me ages to finish because I had started to use the Super Youth Retinol Moisturizer and didn’t want to overdo it on the retinol use. I haven’t replaced this yet as I still have about half a tube left of the moisturizer to use up.

Sample pack of Kate Somerville’s ExfoliKate Intensive Exfoliating Treatment. This came with my bottle of EradiKate. This exfoliator really is intense for sensitive skin. It was just on the edge of me wondering if it was a healthy tingling sensation, or it my face was going to melt and burn. But as soon as I washed it off, my skin was fine, so I guess that it was an intense tingle. This stuff looks really gross (it is dark green) but my skin looked amazing after using it. It is pricey though, so I’m not sure that I will buy the full size unless I’m planning on a splurge.

The Naruko Rose & Botanic HA Aqua Cubic Complex EX serum worked so well for my sensitive combination dry skin. I’m really sad that this one is empty. I loved the way that it worked in conjunction with the Night Gelly. My skin is just so hydrated, smooth and rosy when I use them. The original review is here.

Trial size of Paula’s Choice Moisture Renewal Oil Booster. This stuff is amazing when you need a boost of hydration. You can use it directly on the skin like a serum, mix it with your moisturizer, or even mix it with your foundation. This stuff was great during the cold winter months when my skin gets particularly dry and sensitive. I haven’t replaced it yet, but most likely will in the fall. The original review is here.

Another one from the Project Focus 10 Collab is the Burt’s Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream. I used this religiously for 10 weeks, and it made a huge difference! The original review is here. I will likely replace this, or will try the similar product from Lush.

Thanks for reading and have a beautiful day! ❤

February 2016 Empties

Hello, hello!

I actually managed to keep my empties all together this month, so I actually have a few things to show you today.

February 2016 empties

Living Proof Primer Style Extenderreviewed as a part of my Project Focus 10 Collab. I’m not going to purchase a replacement of this one as I rarely heat style and this is a product geared for someone who heat styles on a regular basis.

Weleda Skin Food – reviewed here. I won’t be purchasing another one right away even though I liked it, as I have my Wild Rose Hand Cream from The Body Shop to use up (reviewed here), and another hand cream that I will be reviewing soon.

Oz Naturals Super Youth Eye Gel – reviewed here. I’m currently testing out another eye cream right now, so I am unsure if I will purchase a replacement of this one or not.

Essence Cosmetics Get Big Lashes Mascara (Waterproof) – My holy grail mascara for volume, curl and longevity / waterproofness, it was in my top products for 2015. Totally stash worthy in my opinion. I’ve already replaced it.

Personelle Cosmetic Pads – I usually just buy whichever cotton pads are on sale since I go through these so quickly for removing eye make-up with grapeseed oil, for removing last traces of make-up with my  and for removing nail polish. But I just started using the Shiseido Facial Cotton that was a part of my recent giveaway winning (soon to be blogged about).

OZ Naturals Vitamin C Facial Cleanser

I’ve been testing out the OZ Naturals Vitamin C Facial Cleanser for a few weeks now. (Check out the box – my usual mail carrier was on vacation and his replacement jammed my package into the mailbox so the packaging was crushed.)

Here’s what is says on the website:

Facial cleanser with up to eight-fold antioxidant protection, that aids in ninety-six percent reduction of sunburn cells, and helps to protect skin from free radical damage.
Vitamin C also helps fades sun spots and discoloration, refines skin texture and reduces fine lines. This organic, aloe vera- and sugar-based sulfate-free wash should be used daily, along with our Vitamin C serum, an OZ Naturals moisturizer, and eye treatment for best results.

Here’s the ingredient list:

Organic Herbal Infusion,Organic Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice (Aloe Vera), Decyl Glucoside, Cocamidopropyl Hydroxysultaine, Cocamidopropyl Betaine (from coconuts), Cocamide MIPA, Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate (Vitamin C), Methylsulfonylmethane (MSM), Disodium Laureth Sulfosuccinate, Disodium Lauryl Sulfosuccinate, Carbomer, (2s)-2-Amino-5-guanidinopentanoic Acid, Olea Europaea (Olive Oil), Organic Rosa Canina (Rose Hip Oil), Borago Officinalis (Borage Oil), Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange Peel Tincture), Origanum Compactum (Oregano Oil), Melaleuca Alternifolia (Tea Tree Oil), Phenoxyethanol, Ethyl Hexyl Glycerin.

My experience: I found this facial cleanser to be great at removing make-up, but at the same time it is super gentle on my sensitive skin. The cleanser has very little scent, and no colour. You don’t need to use a lot, and it foams up nicely and never leaves my skin feeling dried out.  I assume that the Tea Tree Oil is only a very minimal amount because normally Tea Tree Oil causes my skin to react and this does not. Yay!

After trying both OZ Naturals Facial Cleansers, I must say that I like the Vitamin C Facial Cleanser better than the Ocean Minerals Facial Cleanser that I have reviewed previously. The Vitamin C Cleanser works better with my sensitive skin as it is prone to dryness and dullness in the winter.

Thanks for reading and have a beautiful day! ❤

Disclosure: PR sample provided by OZ Naturals in exchange for an honest review on Amazon. I chose to review it here as well.

January 2016 Empties

Hello hello!

This is my first ever empties post because normally as soon as a product is finished, I wash out the container and pop it in the recycling bin.  Everything that I finished this month finished on the same day except for the hair butter – weird.

January 2016 empties

Bioderma Sensibio Make-Up Removing Micelle Solution – original review here, revised review here. I love this stuff, I’ve already purchased a replacement.

OZ Naturals Ocean Mineral Facial Cleanser – original review here. I’m not 100% sure if I will get this again or not as I am currently testing out their Vitamin C Facial Cleanser (review coming on Friday).

OZ Naturals Hyaluronic Acid Serum – original review here, and I’ve already re-purchased this one.

Smith’s Rosebud Salve – I don’t think that I’ve ever actually reviewed this lip balm, but I already have a replacement (thanks to Cat from MyLipAddiction).

Nyx Stay Matte But Not Flat Powder Foundation – Original review is here. I don’t think that I will be repurchasing this one, as I find that it is a little too matte for this time of year due to my skin being a little drier from the winter weather.

The Body Shop Rainforest Radiance Hair Butter for Coloured Hair – Original review is here. This little tub of hair butter got lost in my stash so I had forgotten about it. I used the last little bit on Sunday. As I said in my original review, this is lovely, but unless it becomes available in the full size tub, then I won’t be re-purchasing it.

OZ Naturals Super Youth 2.5% Retinol Moisturizer

Hello there! Today I’m reviewing the Super Youth 2.5% Retinol Moisturizer from Oz Naturals.

OZ Naturals Super Youth Retinol Moisturizer

Here’s what it says on the website:

A powerful cocktail of antioxidants combine with Vitamin A to diminish fine lines, wrinkles, and premature aging due to sun exposure. This results-oriented formulation fights free radical damage as well as restores and renews firmness, elasticity, and thickness to the skin. Vitamin A boasts a long list of clinically proven restorative, anti-aging, and youth-enhancing properties.

The key ingredients are: Vitamin A (exfoliation, skin cell turnover), Hyaluronic Acid (hydration), Vitamin E (antioxidant), Green Tea (antioxidant, anti-inflammatory , Vitamin B5 (moisture, exfoliation), and Jojoba Oil (super skin ingredient – antioxidant, reduce inflammation, moisture, exfoliation).

OZ Naturals Ret4

And here’s the full ingredient list for those of you who are into the science side of skincare (you know who you are! <3):

Organic Aloe Barbadensis (Aloe Vera), Isopropyl Palmitate (Palm Oil), Kosher Vegetable Glycerin, Cetyl Alcohol, Stearic Acid, Glyceryl Stearate, Organic Carthamus Tinctorius (Safflower Oil), Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond Oil), Hyaluronic Acid, Retinyl Palmitate (Vitamin A), Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E), Organic Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba Oil), Organic Camellia Sinensis (Green Tea), Organic Resina Propoli (Propolis), Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter), Panthenol (Vitamin B5), Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexyl Glycerin, Xanthan Gum, Allantoin, Citric Acid.

My experience: When I started using this moisturizer two weeks ago at night, I stopped using my Retinol Serum (OZ Naturals) because I didn’t want to over do it with the retinol. For the first few nights, I used the moisturizer alone to test for skin sensitivity /reactivity, and once I knew that my skin tolerated it, I added my Vitamin C Serum (also OZ Naturals) back into my nighttime skincare routine. I find that when I combine the two, my skin GLOWS the next day. With the arrival of colder weather, my skin is normally dry and dull, but my skin seems to just drink this moisturizer up, leaving me with hydrated, glowing skin. I especially like the fact that this moisturizer has no real scent.

OZ Naturals Super Youth Retinol Moisturizer

Thanks for reading and have a beautiful day! ❤ ❤ ❤

Disclosure: I received this product from OZ Naturals in exchange for an honest review as a part of their Amazon Reviewers Program. I don’t have to blog about it here, but choose to do so. My opinion is very much my own.

Best of 2015 – Skin, Body and Hair Edit

As 2015 draws to a close, I just wanted to thank you for following, reading, commenting and liking my posts. I started this blog in March and I did not think that I would have over 500 followers in less than a year. So thank you! ❤

Here’s my “Best of 2015 – Skin, Body and Hair” and links to the original reviews.

Best Cleanser:

Tied for best cleanser, I have two, the first being the REN Purity No. 1 Cleansing Balm (review) and more recently the Farmacy Clear Bloom Cleansing Oil (review).

Best Serum:

Again we have a tie, both are from OZ Naturals, the Hyaluronic Serum and and Retinol Serum (reviews here and here).

Best Moisturizer:

PC Mask1

Technically this is a facial mask, but the Paula’s Choice  Skin Recovery Hydrating Treatment Mask works amazingly well as a super moisturizer for skin that is super dry in the winter (review here).

Best Mask:

Andalou Naturals Pumpkin Honey Glycolic Mask – I still use this at least once every two weeks (review)

Best Eye Make-Up Remover:

I’ve been using Grapeseed Oil to remove my waterproof mascara for years, and it is still my go-to because most eye make-up removers really irritate my sensitive skin and sensitive eyes (review). My runner up would have to be the Bioderma Sensibio (review), which is funny because I didn’t love it at first.

Best Body Moisturizer:

My holy grail is the Haus of Gloi Pumpkin Butter, but a close runner up would be the OZ Naturals Sweet Almond and Macadamia Nut Body Butter (reviews here and here).

Best Bath Treat:

Lush Rose Jam1

Of course this one would be from LUSH! So many to choose from, but my all time favourite would have to be the Rose Jam Bubbleroon *swoon* (review). My photo is of the older version, the new one looks a lot prettier.

Best Hair Care Items:

I didn’t review very many hair care items, but the Haus of Gloi Hair Oil is one product that I’ve been using for a few years, and I swear by it for taming my beastly hair, haha! (review). Second place goes to my favourite dry shampoo from Zabana Essentials. I still don’t love the packaging, but I love how fresh, clean and soft it makes my hair, and the lavender and mint scent is gorgeous (review).

There you have it, my Best of Skin, Body and Hair Care for 2015! Thanks for reading and have a beautiful 2016! ❤ ❤ ❤
