Cumulative Empties – March and April 2021

Hello, hello – welcome to / welcome back to A Brash Attitude!

Can you believe that it is already May? Today I have my cumulative empties for March and April. I was *so* close to finishing up a few more things too, but I’m sure they’ll appear in my next empties post.

Skincare:

I think that I did great over the past two months to finish up so many things from my skincare stash!

Pure Savy Come Hell or High Water 3-In-1 Micellar Water *Cert Clean Jury Box 2019-2020* – I found this micellar water to be a little on the soapy side, but it worked really well for removing eye makeup. I have several eye makeup remover products in my stash, so I don’t need to even think about purchasing this.

Versed Dew Point Moisturizing Gel Cream – *I purchased this* I loved this light gel moisturizer. I would likely repurchase this one as it played so well with makeup. A great day moisturizer for my normal to dry skin. Review

Sothys Hydra3Ha Hydrating Comfort Cream *PR package* – This was great for the cold winter weather when my skin needed extra hydration at night. It is a little more scented that my personal preference. Review

Poetic Blend The Hero Oil and The Ghost Oil *Giveaway Prize win* – I loved both of these facial oils. I think that the brand is on hiatus (if someone knows for sure, please let me know) so I don’t think that I could purchase. Review and review

Andalou Naturals Apricot Probiotic Cleansing Milk *Subscription Box* – This was such a lovely creamy cleanser. I would purchase this if I didn’t have a few more cream based cleansers to finish up. Review

Be On Me Cleansing Mousse Sensitive Skin *PR package* – I loved this foaming cleanser, it was super gentle but super effective. I would purchase this once I use up a few more cleansers from my stash. Review

Lowen’s Make Room Balm *PR package* – This is a balm for stretch marks and scars, but I used it all winter on my poor dry hands, and it worked amazingly well. Their balms are really great, would definitely need one in my stash before winter! Review

Haircare:

I only managed to finish up two haircare products, but progress is progress.

NatureLab Tokyo Perfect Repair Conditioner *PR package* – This was an amazing conditioner, it worked really well for hydrating my hair. I would love to try more from this brand – hopefully they will be selling in Canada at some point. Review

EVOLVh UltraShine Moisture Conditioner *I purchased this, but I’ve also received PR from the brand before* – Such an amazing conditioner. It hydrates, it smells amazing. I’d buy this again. I’m almost finished the matching shampoo. Review

There you have it! Everything that I’ve finished over the last two months. Have you finished up much lately?

Empties – February 2021

Hello, hello – welcome to / welcome back to A Brash Attitude!

Today I’m sharing my empties for February. I didn’t finish up a lot this month, but progress is progress when it comes to using up my stash and not letting things go to waste! Let’s take a closer look, and I’ll let you know if the products are something that I will re-purchase (either right away, or eventually) or not at all. I’ll also link to the original reviews.

Makeup:

Juice Beauty Stem Cellular CC Cream SPF 30 – I love this, and would buy it again eventually. I have a few on my list that I want to try with a higher SPF, so it will be wish-listed for now. Review is here.

Derma MD Glamour Lip Plump – this was a PR product from several years ago! I really liked it, but it got lost in my stash and its really time to let it go! Review is here.

Skincare:

Poetic Blend The Timeless Oil – I won this in a giveaway. I loved this facial oil! I’m not sure if it is still available or not, but if it is, I would buy it once I use up my facial oil stash. Review is here.

Goldfaden MD Facial Detox Clarify + Clear Mask – I think that this might be my second sample of this facial mask. Really great for a spot treatment for an emergency breakout as it is targeted more for oily / acne prone skin, but I’d buy this as it WORKS! Review is here.

Sothys La Creme Yeux-Lèvres (Eye and Lip Cream) – This was a PR gifted product. The jar was huge, and it took me forever to use it up because you only need the tiniest amount. Because it is such a rich eye cream, I only used it at night. It is an expensive product, so it doesn’t work my budget right now. Review is here.

Be On Me Face Cream Sensitive – This was PR gifted. Such a great facial cream. Hydrating without feeling heavy or greasy. Until I finish up a few more moisturizers in my stash, it will go on my wishlist. Review is here.

Bodycare:

Lowen’s Super Salve – PR gifted. This SAVED my poor dry hands this winter. I plan to buy another jar of this stuff as soon as I finish up a few more salves from my stash. Review is here.

UnderCarriage Deodorant Cream No BS formula, Gerouli scent – Already re-purchased a replacement! This is probably the best baking soda free natural deodorant that I’ve tried thus far. It lasts longer than most, and even the Mister likes using it! Review is here.

Have you finished up much this month? Thanks for reading

Monthly Empties March 2019 – Part 2

March Empties - Skincare

Hello, hello!

Today I have the second part of my Monthly Empties – all my skincare finishes. Part one was all of my bath and haircare empties. And I will comment on if I will be purchasing or not, and link to my original reviews.

Let’s take a look:

March Empties - Skincare

Indie Lee Brightening Cleanser Sample – I got this as a free sample in my last well.ca order. The sample was too small for a full review, but I liked it enough that I want to buy the full size to really test it out.

Nova Scotia Fisherman Sea Kelp Lip Balms x2 – I finished one and the Mister finished the other. Great lip balm for winter. I have a ton of lip balms in my stash, so I have no plans on repurchasing for awhile. Review is here.

MyChelle Dermaceuticals Sun Shield Unscented SPF 28, and Sun Shield Clear Stick SPF 50  *These were PR Samples* I loved these sunscreens, and thankfully they both were nearly finished when I discovered that they were past their expiration dates. I have other sunscreen to use up, so no plans to purchase replacements at this time, but I would highly recommend their sunscreens, as they’re non-greasy and worked well for my sensitive skin. Reviews are here and here.

March Empties - Skincare

Bite Beauty Lip Balm – Another great lip balm, although I prefer their Lip Mask. Again, no plans to repurchase right now, I have a stash of lip balms to use up. Review is here.

Metta Comforting Hand Balm – This was a lifesaver for the winter months! It came in my Petit Vour subscription, and I’m sad that I finished it already. This is going on my wishlist for the fall since I don’t need a heavy duty hand cream in the warmer months. Review is here.

Aromatherapy Associates Hydrating Revitalizing Face Oil – Another Petit Vour subscription sample. This was a nice facial oil – hydrating but not heavy or greasy. I’ve no plans to purchase, as I have several facial oils in my stash to use up. Review is here.

March Empties - Skincare

Poetic Blend The Warrior Serum – I won this in an InstaGram giveaway. This serum is one of the best facial serums that I’ve ever used! My skin LOVED it. I’m hoping to buy a replacement soon. Review is here.

Little Barn Apothecary Aloe + Rosewater Balancing Mist – Another one from my Petit Vour subscription. I love facial mists, especially rose based ones. I have two more in my stash to use up, so no plans to buy a full size right now. Review is here.

So there you have it, I’m pretty happy to have finished up more things from my stash.

My Top 18 Cruelty Free of 2018

Hello, hello and Happy New Year!

I’ve been combing through my blog posts from 2018 and have for you my top 18 cruelty free products for 2018 – it includes bath & body, haircare, skincare and a little bit of makeup. It was really tough to narrow it down to just 18.

Let’s get started! These are not in any particular order, just grouped by category.

Bath and Body:

1. Buck Naked Soap Company Geranium & Purple Clay Sugar Scrub – I’ve been using this all the time, it works amazing to exfoliate and moisturize at the same time. This might be my all time fave sugar scrub! Review is here. (PR product).

2. Buck Naked Soap Company Himalayan Salt Soap – Another staple in my bath / shower routine. It also works well to gentle exfoliate without drying out the skin. Review is here. (PR product)

3. Alba Botanica Natural Hawaiian Body Oil – I love this body oil, it smells amazing and it is fast to absorb into the skin without a greasy residue. Review is here.

4. Alba Botanica Natural Hawaiian Body Cream – This smells the same as the body oil, but I prefer to use this one in the cold winter months. Review is here.

Metta Skincare Comforting Hand Balm

5. Metta Skincare Comforting Hand Balm – Although I haven’t had this for very long, I’ve been using it daily and it has really been helping keep my hands soft. Review is here.

Haircare:

6. Kristen Ess Hair Sea Salt Air Dry Spray – This works well to give my hair beachy waves without making it feel crunchy or gross. Review is here.

7. Kariderm Restorative Hair Mask – I love hair masks and this one is exceptional. It makes my hair incredibly soft and really helps to tame it. Review is here. (PR sample)

8. Attitude Super Leaves Volume & Shine Shampoo & Conditioner – I’ve tried three different formulations from this line, and liked them all, this is my current fave because my hair gets uncharacteristically flat due to the cold air and hat wearing. Review is here.

9. Evolvh Ultimate Styling Lotion – This is such a great styling lotion. I tend to use this when I’m going to blow dry my hair because it adds volume and tame my hair at the same time. Review is here.

Wise Men's Care

10. Wise Men’s Care Birch Bark Daily Shampoo – This shampoo doesn’t lather very well, but it manages to clean my hair deeply. And it smells very woody / earthy. Review is here. (PR sample)

Skincare:

11. Poetic Blend The Hero Oil and The Timeless Oil – These facial oils are beautiful. I use each one depending on what I feel my skins needs on any given day. These are a must have in my skincare routine. Reviews are here, and here. (I won these in a giveaway)

12. Poetic Blend The Warrior Serum – I use this serum at night and wake up with beautiful skin. It has AHA, glycolic acid, and ceramides Review is here. (Part of my Poetic Blend giveaway prize winnings)

13. Pacifica Quinoa Sensitive Super Gentle Face Wash – I really like this cleanser, it is super gentle but manages to deeply clean. Review is here.

14. By Anhesa Cedar Face Cream – Another new product, but I’ve been using it a lot these days as it is lightweight yet hydrating, and plays nicely with facial oils and with makeup. Review is here.

15. Sudsatorium Great Gatsby Lip Scrub – This lip scrub is so good. So good! It is bright and minty and my lips are always so smooth and soft after I use it! Review is here.

16. Nova Scotia Fisherman Extreme Lip Care Lip Balm – I’m a lip balm addict. This one is great for winter weather because it protects and hydrates the lips. Review is here.

Make-up:

17. Elate Cosmetics Veiled Elation Mineral Veil – This is such a great loose powder. It gives my skin a very natural, radiance and doesn’t cling to dry patches. Review is here.

18. Juice Beauty Stem Cellular CC Cream SPF30 – I barely wore foundation all summer because this worked so well to give me the light coverage that I prefer and SPF. Review is here.

Wow, it was really tough to narrow it down to 18! What were your faves for 2018?

Thanks for reading.

Monthly Empties – November 2018

Hello, hello!

Another month of products that I’ve managed to finish up. Let’s take a look and I’ll tell you if I plan on repurchasing (or not).

Haircare:

Empties November 2018

Attitude Super Leaves Shampoo in Color Protection (Avocado Oil & Pomegranate) – I finished up the conditioner awhile back. I really like the shampoos and conditioners from Attitude, I’ve tried a few of the formulations in the Super Leaves line, and in fact, I’m testing out another one right now, so I won’t be re-purchasing right away. (Reviews for the Color Protection and Nourishing & Strengthening)

Ouai Wave Spray – This wave spray worked so well for my hair – I love the beautiful beachy waves that it gives, but unless they come out with a milder scent, I probably won’t re-purchase. If you aren’t sensitive to scents, you will probably love this one. Review is here.

Skincare:

Empties November 2018

Formulary 55 Rosehip & Clay Facial Mask – this came in a Petit Vour box. I really liked this clay mask, I think that I managed to get six uses from the package. I have a few facial masks in my stash to use up so I don’t plan on purchasing at this time. Review is here.

The Ordinary Alpha Arbutin Serum – This was nearly finished when I knocked it over and the bottle shattered on my bathroom floor! Oops! I have so many serums to use up, that I am not buying any at this time until I finished up several more. Review is here.

Personelle Brand Facial Cotton Squares – I use these for removing mascara and swatches. I tend to buy whatever is on sale. These ones were not soft, and tended to leave cotton fibres in my lashes, so I’m going to try to remember not to buy these ones again.

Olverum Bath Oil – Another Petit Vour box gem – I absolutely LOVED this bath oil! I managed to get five or six baths from this bottle. This bath oil is at the top of my wishlist! I’m only buying necessary things for myself right now and this one is a luxury splurge. Review is here.

Poetic Blend The Cosmic Serum – I received this in a mega awesome giveaway package that I had won from Poetic Blend. This is a beautiful hydrating serum, it is on my wishlist to purchase after I use up a few more serums from my stash. Review is here.

Nova Scotia Fisherman Cuticle Rescue – This is a must have for nails  / cuticles! I’m currently using up a cuticle oil from my stash, so I don’t need to repurchase this yet, but again, it is one that I have on my wishlist. Review is here.

Makeup Decluttering:

Empties November 2018

I liked all three of these products, but it is time to let them go as I’ve either had them way too long, or they’ve dried out. The two highlighters Nyx Born to Glow and Soap & Glory Glow All Out were featured recently in my Highlighter Stash, but sadly they’ve started to go off or dry out. The ColourPop Ultra Satin Lip was in the shade Frick n Frack – which I LOVED – has also started to dry out, so it is high time to let it go!

Did you finish up a lot this month? I’m pretty happy with the progress that I making in working my way through my stash and using things up whenever possible, and decluttering when products have been kept too long.

Poetic Blend The Warrior Serum + The Cosmic Serum Review

Poetic Blend - The Warrior Serum, The Cosmic Serum

Hello, hello!

Today I’m reviewing The Warrior Serum and The Cosmic Serum – they were bonus surprises in my recent Poetic Blend giveaway winnings! I’ve already reviewed The Hero Oil and The Timeless Oil earlier this week.

Poetic Blend - The Warrior Serum, The Cosmic Serum

The Warrior Serum is a full size, and The Cosmic Serum was a sample size [info in italics taken from the Poetic Blend website]

The Warrior Serum:

Poetic Blend The Warrior Serum

This incredibly powerful yet gentle serum is formulated with advanced ceramide technology. Plant derived ceramides boost moisture retention in the skin and combine with AHA’s and Glycolic Acid to fight free radical damage. Pore cleansing, plant-based Salicylic Acid helps shed dead skin cells and clear pores while stimulating cellular regeneration. The end result is a plumper, smoother, and even complexion, made for the warrior in all of us. Suitable for all skin types including mature & blemish-prone skin.

Poetic Blend The Warrior Serum

This is a powerhouse serum, but at the same time is super gentle on my sensitive skin. I’ve been using this serum nightly after cleansing, and wake up with fresh and smooth skin. I love this one!

The Cosmic Serum:

Poetic Blend The Cosmic Serum

A cosmic wonder made with constellations of plant peptides & hyaluronic acid
Meet your skin’s kismet – this powerful force of a serum is loaded with Hyaluronic acid, a bevy of peptide complex blends and plant stem cells boost collagen and restore elasticity. Suitable for all skin types, especially those looking for superior hydration + anti-aging properties.

This is what the full size looks like [screenshot taken from the Poetic Blend website]

Poetic Blend The Cosmic Serum [shot taken from Poetic Blend website]

I’ve been using my sample of The Cosmic Serum in the mornings after cleansing, and before applying facial oil for an added hydration boost. It absorbs quickly and plays nicely with all of the facial oils, moisturizers and makeup that I’ve used with it.

Thanks for reading and have a beautiful day!

Disclosure: I won these in a giveaway, but because I love skincare, you know I’m going to share my experience!

Poetic Blend The Timeless Oil Review

Hello, hello!

Today I’m sharing my review of The Timeless Oil from the Poetic Blend giveaway that I recently won. I’ve already reviewed The Hero Oil [info in italics taken from the Poetic Blend website]

Poetic Blend The Timeless Oil

Defying age and time, The Timeless oil is blended with precious plant-based oils that deliver optimal hydration and essential fatty acids which help the skin retain moisture and increase skin cell growth.

Poetic Blend The Timeless Oil

Formulated especially for dry to mature skin types. A unique blend of Rosehip, Argan and Sea buckthorn oil combine to fight free radical damage, plump dehydration lines, soften the appearance of wrinkles, and brighten dark spots. Our fast absorbing formula melts into the skin to deliver essential omega fatty acids and antioxidants.

Poetic Blend The Timeless Oil

This facial oil is AMAZING. It is super hydrating and has loads of awesome properties (plumping, softening, brightening). I know that I’ll be getting a lot of use from this one now that the weather is getting colder. My skin tends to need a lot more moisture during the winter months. It plays nicely with my moisturizer and foundation – which is always a great thing!

Disclosure: I won this in a giveaway, and because I love skincare, you know that I’m going to share my experience!

Poetic Blend The Hero Oil Review

Poetic Blend The Hero Oil

Hello, hello!

Today I’m sharing my review of The Hero Oil from Poetic Blend that I won in their recent InstaGram giveaway that I showed here on Monday. [info in italics taken from the Poetic Blend website]

Poetic Blend The Hero Oil

This heroic elixir uses a natural blend of precious botanical oils that helps to rescue skin in need of relief from inflammation and other sensitivities. Supremely lightweight and contains soothing and calming properties, it also promotes healing and reparation. The Hero oil is always up for a fight.

Poetic Blend The Hero Oil

The Hero dry oil balances and tones normal/oily to blemish prone skin types with a potent blend of Jojoba, Grape Seed, Evening Primrose, and Black Currant seed oils. With a structure most similar to the skin’s natural sebum, Jojoba regulates the production of facial oils. Black Currant, Evening Primrose, and Grape seed oils deliver a potent dose of antioxidants that  fight free radical damage, brighten the complexion, and soothe irritation.

Poetic Blend The Hero Oil

The Hero Oil is lightweight, and absorbs into the skin quickly. It works so well for my sensitive skin as it really does help keep things calm and irritation free. It plays nicely with serums, moisturizers and with my foundation. Because it is a dry oil, it doesn’t leave a greasy feeling on the skin.

Disclosure: I won this in a giveaway, but because I love skincare so much, I had to share my experience!

Poetic Blend Giveaway Winnings!

Hello, hello!

If you follow me on InstaGram, you will have seen my Stories and Unboxing of the beautiful prize package that I won from Poetic Blend. [info in italics taken from the Poetic Blend website]

Poetic Blend

Poetic Blend is a Canadian cruelty-free company:

All orders are made by hand, in fresh, small batches to maximize freshness. Each and every part of our production is done with a great labour of love, by hand in our studio; everything from assembling the rubber to the aluminium cap with the dropper, to the labelling, pouring, boxing and packaging is touched by the loving hand of a human.

Poetic Blend

The prize was the Face Oil Collection – the Ghost Oil, the Hero Oil, and the Timeless Oil. But the owner slipped in a full size of the new Warrior Serum, as well as a sample of the Cosmic Serum.

Poetic Blend Face Oil Trio - The Ghost Oil, The Hero Oil, The Timeless Oil

Poetic Blend Face Oil Trio - The Ghost Oil, The Hero Oil, The Timeless Oil

I’ve previously tried and reviewed the Ghost Oil (which I loved), so I won’t be reviewing it this time, but reviews of both the Hero and Timeless Oils are coming this week, as well as for the Warrior and Cosmic Serums.

Poetic Blend - The Warrior Serum, The Cosmic Serum

Look at the packaging! So beautiful! I cannot wait to share my experience with using these facial oils and serums with you this week!
