September 2017 Empties

Hello, hello!

Today I have my monthly empties – I’m pretty happy with the amount that I managed to finish this month. Some are sample-sized and some are full sized.

Sept 2017 Empties

Briogeo Curl Charisma (leave in defining creme sample size) – I have a full size of this already and love it. The original review is here.

First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Face Moisturizer (sample size) – I think that I got this either from Ipsy or from Sephora. I really liked this moisturizer, it is light and hydrating. I’ve never reviewed this one.

Becca Under Eye Brightening Corrector (full size) – I already repurchased this, I use it daily and it helps hide my dark circles. The original review is here.

Sept 2017 Empties

Schmidt’s Deodorant Lavender Tips Sensitive Skin Formula (full size) – I love this natural deodorant. It is baking soda free so it doesn’t trigger a reaction. I’m using up a few deodorants right now, but plan on repurchasing this one. Review is here.

Biokem Purifying Shampoo with Grapefruit Seed (full size, PR sample) – This was a great clarifying shampoo, it lathered well and smelled amazing. If I could buy this locally, I would repurchase. Review is here.

Sept 2017 Empties

Ingenium Naturals Sensi-Net Exfoliate (full size / PR sample) – I really liked this facial scrub, it worked well for my sensitive skin. I have a few scrubs to use up, so I won’t be purchasing a new one for awhile. Review is here.

MyChelle Dermaceuticals Daily Defense Cream SPF17 (full size / PR sample) – I love the sunscreens from MyChelle Dermaceuticals! I still have a few more sunscreens from MyChelle in my stash so I don’t need to repurchase yet. Review is here.

NuWorld Botanicals Sun-Kissed Skin Facial Oil (full size / PR sample) – This is a beautiful facial oil, but I have several to use up in my stash, so I won’t be purchasing a replacement right now. Review is here.

Sept 2017 Empties

Pur-Lisse Blue Lotus Eye Serum (sample size) – I got this in the loot bag from the 2016 Ipsy Genereation Beauty Event. This was a nice eye cream, but I have a few in my stash to use up, so I won’t be purchasing a full size of this. Review is here.

Herbivore Blue Tansy Resurfacing Clarity Mask (sample size) – I absolutely loved this mask! It is on my list to purchase once I finish up a few more masks in my stash. Review is here.

Ren Glycol Lactic Radiance Renewal Mask (sample size) – Another mask that I really love. It works similar to the Herbivore one for my skin. Review is here.

There you have it! All the stuff I’ve managed to use up this month. Did you finish up much? Thanks for reading and have a beautiful day!

Disclosure: This post contains some PR samples – all are identified.

Ren Glycol Lactic Radiance Renewal Mask Review

Hello, hello!

Sorry for the lateness of today’s blog post, my poor laptop is having some problems, eep!

Onto the review!

Ren Glycol Lactic Radiance Renewal Mask

I’ve tried the Ren Glycol Lactic Radiance Renewal Mask long before I started blogging, and when I got it in my December Ipsy Glam bag, I felt that I should finally review it. The description in italics is taken from the Sephora website:

What it is:
An instant complexion-perfecting mask that brightens and renews skintone and texture, minimizes pores, diminishes hyperpigmentation, and reduces the appearance of fine lines in as little as 10 minutes.

What it is formulated to do:
A cocktail of four acids including glycolic acid from pinneapple, lactic acid from passion fruit, citric acid from lemon, and tartaric acid from grape create multiaction exfoliation. It lifts dead skin and resurfaces to dramatically improve skintone, texture, firmness, and radiance, while minimizing the appearance of pores and reducing sun damage, hyperpigmentation, and old acne scars.

This is one of the few acid peel type masks that my sensitive skin can handle – which funny because it says that it is not recommended for people with sensitive skin! As always, if you have sensitive skin, don’t forget to do a patch test on your arm or neck before trying it on your face.

Ren Glycol Lactic Radiance Renewal Mask

My skin is always so fresh and bright looking after using it. At $68 (Canadian) for the full size, it is on the expensive side, but a little goes a long way. I’ve gotten several uses (at least three so far) from my deluxe sample sized tube, and I’d guess that I’m not even half way through it.

Have you tried this? Do you have a fave acid type peel / mask?

Thanks for reading and have a beautiful day! ❤

Ipsy Glam Bag Dec 2016 Unboxing & First Impressions

Ipsy Glam Bag Dec 2016

Hello, hello!

This month’s Ipsy Glam Bag is a good one in my opinion. Let’s take a look:

Ipsy Glam Bag Dec 2016

This month’s theme was Carpe P.M., and the bag is supposed to double as a little wristlet. It is a pinky red fuzzy fabric, with a gold metallic interior lining. It is kind of cute in a tacky way, but not something that I would use.

Ipsy Glam Bag Dec 2016

The first product is the Ren Glycol Lactic Radiance Renewal Mask. I’ve tried this product before, and it works well for my sensitive skin. Cruelty free brand, owned by a parent company that is not cruelty free.

A fruity cocktail to brighten us up. Glycolic acid from pineapple, lactic acid from passion fruit, citric acid from lemon, and tartaric acid from grape work together to exfoliate and leave our skin looking its most radiant.

  • Let’s add one more fruit to that. Papain from Mexican papayas helps reduce the appearance of fine lines.
  • Downplay. Minimizes pores and diminishes hyperpigmentation.
  • 10 out of 10 of us here at ipsy HQ said our skin felt firmer after a single use.

Ipsy Glam Bag Dec 2016

The second product is the Nyx Prismatic Shadow in shade Jaded. The photos just don’t do this one justice, it is a beautiful metallic green shade. Cruelty free brand owned by a parent company that is not cruelty free.

Razzle dazzle ‘em. We’re in awe over how pigmented this shadow is, delivering rich color with gentle metallic shimmer in a single swipe.

  • Go it alone. No primer necessary to turn on the glitz and get a look that lasts.
  • Standout formula. Soft texture makes the shadow easy to blend, without flecks falling onto our cheeks.

ipsters who sample this shadow in their Glam Bag will receive Bedroom Eyes (chestnut)Fireball (reddish rose)Jaded (green) or Punk Heart (amethyst).

I really like the one that I received, but all four shades are gorgeous.

Ipsy Glam Bag Dec 2016

The third product is the Symphony Beauty Snow Cream Moisturizer. I’ve only tested this on my wrist so far, but it has such a cool texture. Cruelty free brand.

Zero gravity. This weightless whipped gel moisturizer feels as light and fluffy as fresh snow—and has us dreaming of a white Christmas.

  • Instant gratification. Absorbs immediately and leaves our faces looking fresh and hydrated.
  • Cut the grease. No sticky or tacky residue left behind. Just super smooth skin.
  • Oh, do glow on. Vitamin E nourishes and helps brighten up our complexions.

Ipsy Glam Bag Dec 2016

The fourth product is the Ciaté Liquid Velvet Matte Liquid Lipstick in Pin Up. I like how this one applies smoothly and evenly. It actually feels comfortable! Way better than the one from last month’s bag (here). Cruelty free company.

We’re matte about it. One of the most comfy liquid lipsticks we’ve ever tried.  And trust us, we’ve sampled hundreds here at ipsy HQ. Creamy and moisturizing, it dries down to a soft finish that lasts and lasts.

  • Berry nice. Purplish-pink shade looks fan-freaking-tastic with any skin tone.
  • Hyaluronic acid conditions lips (buh-bye, dryness and flaking) and makes them appear fuller and smoother.
  • Stay inside the lines. Precision tip makes it easy to apply and totally goof-proof, even for liquid lipstick newbies.

Ipsy Glam Bag Dec 2016

Ipsy Glam Bag Dec 2016

The fifth and final product is the Tarte Maracuja Oil (aka Barracuda Oil, right Cat and Stashy, haha!)  I’m super happy about this one! Cruelty free.

Oils can seem scary (um hello! who wants to look greasy?!) but this multitasker left our skin quenched, nourished, and dewy—not shiny. You’ll want to have a bottle on you at all times.

  • Packed with complexion heroes like skin-brightening Vitamin C and repairing fatty acids
  • Use it for a zillion other things like frizz-fighting, on-the-go manis, makeup removal

I’ve had several samples of this oil over the years, I think that it might be the first facial oil that I’d ever tried.

Overall, I think that this month’s Ipsy Glam Bag was great! I got three skincare products and two makeup products that I really like. What did you get in your bag? Were you happy with what you received?

Project Pan 12 Collab, Week 12 Review

PP12 Urban Decay Pulp Fiction

Hello, hello!

Can you believe that it has already been 12 weeks?  Today I’m reviewing the 12th of 12 products for my Project Pan 12 collab with these lovely fellow bloggers:  Ingrid from CurlySpringBlossom, and Stashy from Stash Matters, and Chanelle from ChanelleHayleyyy!

Basically, the Project Pan 12 goal is to use up (or at least make a good attempt to use up) twelve products over the course of twelve weeks, and to review one of the products each week. After the product review, I’ll give a very short comment on the remaining eleven products just to account for whether or not I’ve been successful in using each of the products.

Onto the review!

Urban Decay Pulp Fiction Mini Palette*

I won this palette in a giveaway last October from Hello Kaily, and my original swatch post is here if you want to check it out. The Urban Decay Pulp Fiction mini palette was a special edition palette / limited edition palette from the 20th Anniversary of the cult classic film Pulp Fiction.

As you can see, there are four pans (five shades):  Righteous, a light cream matte, Tyranny, a warm brown matte, Vengeance, a deep taupe brown matte satin and a split pan of Furious / Anger a black satin / white satin.

I love this little palette, it is very wearable and can be used to create both neutral and dramatic looks. The shadows are soft and buttery, and very pigmented. Despite using this palette anywhere from 1 to 3 times each week for the past 12 weeks, as you can hopefully see from my photos, I’ve barely put a dent in the pans!

Update on the Remaining 11 Products:

Project Pan 12 Collab

1. Urban Decay Naked Skin Ultra Definition Pressed Finishing Powder – Finally finished! Reviewed week 1 (here)

4. Brazen Cosmetics Organic Mineral Foundation in Crazed (0N) – Finished this week 5, and reviewed week 4 (here).

6. Nyx Born to Glow Liquid Illuminator in Gleam – still using daily, reviewed week 6 (here).

7. Urban Decay Urban Vices Mini Palette – used 2x, nowhere near hitting pan, reviewed week 7 (here).

9. Ren No. 1 Purity Cleansing Balm – used 3x and finished this week! Reviewed week 9 (here).

10. Haus of Gloi Hair Oil in Cozy Sweater Scent – did not use this week, definitely won’t finish this one any time soon, reviewed week 10 (here).

Project Pan 12 Collab, Week 11 Review & Update

Hello, hello!

Today I’m reviewing the 11th of 12 products for my Project Pan 12 collab with these lovely fellow bloggers:  Ingrid from CurlySpringBlossom, and Stashy from Stash Matters, and Chanelle from ChanelleHayleyyy!

Atelier Cologne Rose Anonyme – Description is taken from the Sephora website:

A breathtaking seductress caught in a stolen affair between light and dark as Turkish rose sparkles and intrigues beneath notes of spicy ginger and a sultry veil of velvet oud and mystic papyrus.

“She turned the dial until the safe opened, revealing the diamond. She had stolen jewels before, but none compared with this one. She left a single rose and the scent of her perfume in its place for him to find. In a moment she’d be halfway around the world and he would be in pursuit. The chase began again…”

Notes:
Bergamot from Calabria, Ginger from China, Turkish Rose Essence, Turkish Rose Absolue, Incense From Somalia, Velvet Oud Accord, Patchouli from Indonesia, Papyrus from India, Benjoin from Laos.
Style:
Breathtaking. Mysterious. Exhilarating.

I purchased this perfume when it first arrived at Sephora six years ago. At the time, it was probably my most loved fragrance EVER. It smelled like roses and spice, and something dark. A fried of mine used to call this scent a “dirty rose” haha!

As you can see from my super scientific method for tracking usage (using tape to mark the level that the perfume was at on September 5th), I’ve barely made a dent in this perfume.

I don’t know if my scent preferences have changed or if the perfume is starting to go off, but I just don’t love it like I used to. It has been a struggle to use this perfume on a daily basis. Most weeks I’ve been forcing myself to use it at least twice each week. I need to go to Sephora and smell the tester to see whether or not my bottle has started to go off.

According to the Atelier Cologne website, their response to the question of animal testing is:

We do not use ingredients of animal origin. And we do not test our products or raw materials on animals as required by law.

So I’m very excited to find that they are cruelty free!

Project Pan 12 Collab, Week 10 Review

Hello, hello!

Today I’m reviewing the 10th of 12 products for my Project Pan 12 collab with these lovely fellow bloggers:  Ingrid from CurlySpringBlossom, and Stashy from Stash Matters, and Chanelle from ChanelleHayleyyy!

Haus of Gloi Hair Oil – Cozy Sweater Scent

I reviewed the unscented version of this hair oil back in March 2015 – the only difference is that this one has the Cozy Sweater scent added to it (pale skin musk, faded perfume, Egyptian amber, softly burning nag champa incense and a fine aged vanilla).

Haus of Gloi Hair Oil - Cozy Sweater

The Haus of Gloi Hair Oil is made from a blend of several different oils:

Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, camellia oleifera (camellia seed) oil, argania spinosa (argan) oil, virgin cocos nucifera (coconut) oil, raphanus sativus (daikon radish) seed oil, cymbidium grandiflorum (orchid) flower extract, equisetum arvense (horsetail grass) extract, lavandula (lavender) flower extract, calendula officinalis (calendula) flower extract, (and) azadirachta indica (neem) leaf extract, vitamin e

In the directions for use, they suggest to use between 1 to 4 drops of the oil. Because my hair is long and thick, I tend to use between 4 to 6 drops of oil. It makes my hair soft and tames frizz.

While I love this hair oil, I don’t this one as often as the unscented version. These days I’ve been forcing myself to use it once a week because I’m getting sick of the scent.

There is no way that I’ll finish this product up within the twelve weeks. As you can see from the tape mark (not nearly as scientific as Stashy with her kitchen scale) – I’ve barely put a dent in this oil in ten weeks!
