Empties February 2018

Hello, hello!

Today I’m sharing my February empties and whether or not I would re-purchase. I managed to finish up a few more products in my stash, and there are a few more *so close* to being empty.

Empties Feb 2018

Skincare Empties:

Empties Feb 2018

Juice Beauty Green Apple Brightening Gel Cleanser – I got this in one of my Petit Vour subscription boxes, review is here. I really loved this cleanser, and I’d like to purchase this one when I finish up my Pacifica cleanser.

Andalou Naturals Instant Brighten & Tighten Hydro Serum Facial Mask – Another Petit Vour subscription box item, review is here. I’d love try try more of these sheet masks once I empty my stash.

Makeup Empties:

Empties Feb 2018

Essence I ❤ Extreme Volume Waterproof Mascara and The False Lashes Mascara – I absolutely love both of these mascaras, reviews are here and here. I’ve repurchased both already.

Bath & Body Empties:

Empties Feb 2018

Plant Apothecary Get Happy Bodywash – Another Petit Vour item. I’m sad that I finished this shower gel already, it smelled so good! Review is here. I have a few more shower gels to use up before purchasing anything new.

Schmidt’s Charcoal & Magnesium Natural Deodorant – This is one of the best natural deodorants that I’ve used. Review is here. I’ve already repurchased this one.

Aromatherapy Empties:

Empties Feb 2018 5

Saje Natural Wellness Liquid Sunshine, Now Essential Oils Peppermint and Eucalyptus – since getting our new diffusers, we’ve been using them non-stop. The peppermint and eucalyptus were majorly used when the Mr. and I had the dreaded winter plague (thankfully just a crappy cold and not the flu). We are slowly building up a collection of essential oils.

Were you able to finish up many products this month?

Thanks for reading and have a beautiful day!

Schmidt’s Charcoal + Magnesium Deodorant Stick

Hello, hello!

Today I have a review of another Schmidt’s Natural Deodorant – this time the Charcoal + Magnesium. I’ve reviewed several natural deodorants here on the blog, both from Schmidt’s and other brands. I had started reacting to the baking soda in Schmidt’s. After contacting their customer service and discussing my reaction, they recommended trying either the Sensitive Formula or the Charcoal + Magnesium. Because my underarms were so irritated at the time, I switched to the Sensitive Formula. (read about my reaction, Schmidt’s excellent customer service and review of the Sensitive Formula here)

When I was in Nova Scotia last month, my mom gave me the Charcoal + Magnesium Deodorant to try. I’ve been using it a few days a week for a month now, so I feel like I’m ready to review. I’ve been using a baking soda free deodorant from my stash every couple of days in between to give my skin a break and minimize the chance of a reaction re-occurring. So far, this has been successful!  (info in italics is taken from the Schmidt’s website)

  • Scent reminiscent of freshly fallen rain: vaporous, mild, and wispy
  • Enriched with mineral-derived ingredients: Magnesium and Sodium Bicarbonate
  • Plant-based powders help absorb wetness without the use of aluminum
  • Helps neutralize odour naturally
  • Free of aluminum, propylene glycol, parabens & phthalates; no artificial fragrance
  • Non-greasy, non-sticky feel. Easily absorbed; application requires only a small amount
  • Certified Vegan and Cruelty-free

Schmidt's Charcoal + Magnesium Deodorant

I wasn’t sure how charcoal and magnesium would smell, but they did a good job in making this deodorant smell nice – it is mild and fresh smelling.

The Charcoal + Magnesium Deodorant works well for me even in hot weather, and it is not at all greasy or sticky. It does however leave a faint grey cast on my skin when applied, but I’ve not noticed any staining of lighter coloured clothing.

Have you tried Schmidt’s or any other natural deodorants?

Thanks for reading and have a beautiful day!

Disclosure: In case you missed it at the beginning, my awesome mom purchased this for me.

September 2017 Empties

Hello, hello!

Today I have my monthly empties – I’m pretty happy with the amount that I managed to finish this month. Some are sample-sized and some are full sized.

Sept 2017 Empties

Briogeo Curl Charisma (leave in defining creme sample size) – I have a full size of this already and love it. The original review is here.

First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Face Moisturizer (sample size) – I think that I got this either from Ipsy or from Sephora. I really liked this moisturizer, it is light and hydrating. I’ve never reviewed this one.

Becca Under Eye Brightening Corrector (full size) – I already repurchased this, I use it daily and it helps hide my dark circles. The original review is here.

Sept 2017 Empties

Schmidt’s Deodorant Lavender Tips Sensitive Skin Formula (full size) – I love this natural deodorant. It is baking soda free so it doesn’t trigger a reaction. I’m using up a few deodorants right now, but plan on repurchasing this one. Review is here.

Biokem Purifying Shampoo with Grapefruit Seed (full size, PR sample) – This was a great clarifying shampoo, it lathered well and smelled amazing. If I could buy this locally, I would repurchase. Review is here.

Sept 2017 Empties

Ingenium Naturals Sensi-Net Exfoliate (full size / PR sample) – I really liked this facial scrub, it worked well for my sensitive skin. I have a few scrubs to use up, so I won’t be purchasing a new one for awhile. Review is here.

MyChelle Dermaceuticals Daily Defense Cream SPF17 (full size / PR sample) – I love the sunscreens from MyChelle Dermaceuticals! I still have a few more sunscreens from MyChelle in my stash so I don’t need to repurchase yet. Review is here.

NuWorld Botanicals Sun-Kissed Skin Facial Oil (full size / PR sample) – This is a beautiful facial oil, but I have several to use up in my stash, so I won’t be purchasing a replacement right now. Review is here.

Sept 2017 Empties

Pur-Lisse Blue Lotus Eye Serum (sample size) – I got this in the loot bag from the 2016 Ipsy Genereation Beauty Event. This was a nice eye cream, but I have a few in my stash to use up, so I won’t be purchasing a full size of this. Review is here.

Herbivore Blue Tansy Resurfacing Clarity Mask (sample size) – I absolutely loved this mask! It is on my list to purchase once I finish up a few more masks in my stash. Review is here.

Ren Glycol Lactic Radiance Renewal Mask (sample size) – Another mask that I really love. It works similar to the Herbivore one for my skin. Review is here.

There you have it! All the stuff I’ve managed to use up this month. Did you finish up much? Thanks for reading and have a beautiful day!

Disclosure: This post contains some PR samples – all are identified.

June 2017 Faves

Hello, hello!

Can you believe that June is nearly over? Today I have my faves for the month of June. I tried to keep it within five products or less per product category:

Fave Hair & Body Products:

June Faves - Wildcraft, Mychelle, Briogeo

Wildcraft Buff Face and Body Scrub, originally reviewed here – I absolutely love this scrub for the body. I still think that it would be way to harsh for my sensitive face.

MyChelle Dermaceuticals Replenishing Solar Defence SPF 30*, originally reviewed here – this is such a great sunscreen, I can wear it on my face or my body. And it plays nicely with makeup.

Briogeo Curl Charisma, originally reviewed here, humidity makes my hair an unruly mess, and this helps tame the frizz without making it feel heavy or crunchy.

Not pictured – Schmidt’s Naturals Deodorant Sensitive Skin Formula in Lavender Tips, originally reviewed here, a great natural deodorant for my sensitive underarms! The first baking soda free deodorant that works well for me.

Fave Skincare Products:

June Faves - The Ordinary, Herbivore

The Ordinary Advanced Retinoid 2%, reviewed here – I’m loving this one at night. My skin looks so good when I wake up in the morning!

Herbivore Blue Tansy Resurfacing Clarity Mask, reviewed here – I only use this once a week, but it I think that it really helps with skin texture. I’ll definitely be buying a full size of this one!

The Ordinary Caffeine Solution 5% + EGCG, reviewed here – this works so great at de-puffing my poor allergy plagued under eye area! I use this one in the morning only.

The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5, reviewed here – my skin LOVES hyaluronic acid. It just plumps and hydrates the skin so well without making it feel oily or heavy. I use this one morning and night.

The Ordinary “Buffet” Multi-Technology Peptide Serum, reviewed here – another serum that makes my skin look and feel great! I use this one morning and night.

Fave Make-Up:

June Faves - Bite. The Ordinary, ColourPop

Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Lipstick in Pepper, reviewed here – I’ve been wearing this lipstick so much since getting it in April! It is such a perfect MLBB shade.

The Ordinary High Spreadability Fluid Primer, reviewed here – this is the first primer that I’ve tried and really liked.

The Ordinary Serum Foundation in  1.2P, reviewed here – this is a nice light foundation. these days I mostly only wear foundation when I have client meetings, and this is the one that I’ve reached for each time!

Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Lipstick in Rhubarb, reviewed here – this is such a wearable shade. I’ve been wearing this one a lot this month as well.

ColourPop Ultra Satin Lip in Dopey, reviewed here – I’ve been wearing this one non-stop over the past week. I’d actually forgotten that I owned this one!

So there you have it, all of my faves for the month of June! What were your fave products this month?

Thanks for reading and have a beautiful day! ❤

Schmidt’s Naturals Deodorant Sensitive Skin Formula Review

Hello, hello!

Today I have a review of the new Sensitive Skin Formula Deodorant from Schmidt’s Naturals. I’ve previously reviewed the regular formula here if you want to check it out. I’ve tried numerous natural deodorants with varied results, but the Schmidt’s was by far the best one that I’ve ever used as it was long lasting and didn’t seem to crap out after a few hours. Not only did it keep my underarms from getting smelly, it kept them dry.

Fast forward to a year later of using the regular formula, and I started to develop a sensitivity to the baking soda. I’ve had this happen before with other natural deodorants with baking soda – usually fairly quickly. The reaction starts with my underarms getting red and irritated, and my skin will start looking similar to eczema, and as it heals, the skin will peel off. Normally when this starts to happen, I switch back to one of my baking soda free deodorants (that just don’t seem to work as well for me), to give my underarms a break.

Schmidt's

So when Schmidt’s announced on their Instagram and Twitter that they were introducing some new sensitive formula deodorants, I commented that I needed to try it due to developing a baking soda sensitivity, and they told me to contact their customer service for some tips, the information below is taken from my email correspondence:

We’re sorry to hear that you are experiencing sensitivity while using Schmidt’s. It’s possible the discomfort is due to a sensitivity or allergy to an ingredient (such as baking soda), pH level of the skin, transitioning from antiperspirant (some people report going through a “detox” period), or it could even be that you’re applying more than is needed. Our product is effective and fast-absorbing, and can be used in smaller quantities than you may be used to applying with conventional deodorants and antiperspirants. We suggest starting with 1-2 swipes with our stick applicator or about half a pea-sized amount under each arm when using our jar applicator. Some people apply a small amount of moisturizer such as coconut oil before applying the deodorant and find that this does the trick for them.

Because I’ve been using natural deodorants for several years now, I’m long past the detox period, and had already tried the coconut oil trick to try to minimize the irritation.

Schmidt's

I had several emails back and forth with their customer service, and they offered to replace my existing regular formula with either their new Charcoal and Magnesium Deodorant (with baking soda) or with one of their Sensitive Formula Deodorants!

Our Sensitive Skin are formulated without baking soda-they use magnesium to neutralize odour, and are formulated specifically for those seeking effective and natural protection from wetness and odour that is especially gentle on skin. This formula prioritizes a smooth, creamy consistency, topped off with inviting essential oils that are renowned for the skin-soothing and anti-inflammatory qualities.

I decided to try out the sensitive formula since I was certain that it was the baking soda that was causing my reaction. I have to say that their customer service is EXCELLENT.

The Sensitive Skin Formula Deodorants come in six different scents – Coconut Pineapple, Jasmine Tea, Lavender Tips, Geranium Flower, Tea Tree and Fragrance Free. I chose to get the Lavender Tips scent to try out.

Schmidt's

I’ve been using the Lavender Tips Sensitive Skin Deodorant for a several weeks now, and I have to say that I’m impressed! It works better for me than any other baking soda free deodorant that I’ve tried thus far. It is long lasting, I can put it on in the morning, and it keeps me smelling fresh all day. My underarms got a little damp once or twice, but I didn’t get smelly. Overall I’m really liking this one, and I think I’ll be using the Sensitive Formula most of the time, and only break out the regular formula one for days when I know I’ll be really active.

Thanks for reading and have a beautiful day! ❤

Disclosure: Product sent as a free replacement for my original deodorant that I had purchased myself.

November Empties

Hello, hello!

I know that November isn’t over yet, but I also know that I am not close enough to finishing anything else in my stash. Any products that I finished from my Project Pan Collab are not included in these empties.

November Empties (2016)

As you can see, I only finished up a few products this month.

Makeup Empties:

November Empties (2016)

Nyx HD Studio Photogenic Foundation (reviewed here) – Would I buy it again? Probably not, but only because I’m only going to buy foundations / BB creams with SPF in them from now on. But despite this, this foundation worked great for my skin.

Nyx Dark Circle Corrector (reviewed here) -I didn’t actually finish this one, it is getting pitched because it dried out so badly that it is unusable. Would I buy again? Probably not as it didn’t work as well for me as the  Becca Undereye Brightening Corrector (reviewed here).

Nyx Above & Beyond Full Coverage Concealer (reviewed here) – Repurchase? Maybe. I really liked this concealer but it got pushed to the back of my stash when I was trying new concealers. It works great when my skin is normal, but not so great when my skin gets dry.

The Body Shop Wonderblur (reviewed here). I really liked this primer when I first purchased it. But when I used it recently, it was terrible and pilled when I wore it under my Nars Sheer Glow Foundation. Initially the two worked well together. Maybe it dried out? I’m not sure. Would I repurchase?  Probably not.

Body Care:

Nov Empties (2016)

Schmidt’s Natural Deodorant in Ylang-Ylang & Calendula – (reviewed here). Already repurchased, this time in Cedarwood & Juniper scent. This natural deodorant works great for me, but I can’t use it every single day as it will start to irritate my skin due to the baking soda content so I switch to one of the baking soda free natural deodorants in my stash on days when I’m working from home.

Cake Beauty Delectable Hand Cream in Strawberries & Cream – (reviewed here). Would I repurchase? Maybe, but in a different scent. This was a struggle to finish, because in spite of it being a really great hand cream, the scent was too much for me!

Earth Science Naturals Deodorant  in Mint Rosemary – (reviewed here). Would I repurchase? I probably will once I use up a few more deodorants in my stash. It works pretty well but not as well as the Schmidt’s. But it is great to use when my underarm skin needs a little break from the Schmidt’s as it doesn’t contain baking soda.

Haircare:

Nov Empties (2016)

CO LAB Dry Shampoo in Rio tropical scent – (reviewed here). I’ve been buying this one since last winter, and it made its first appearance in my March Empties post. Already repurchased. I think that I finish up one of these every couple of months. I like this one because it has a mild scent and doesn’t make my hair feel dried out that way that a lot of dry shampoos make my hair feel.

So there you have it, not very many empties, but I’m happy to be clearing out my stash.

Thanks for reading and have a beautiful day! ❤
