Empties May 2019

Hello, hello!

Another month has just zipped by, and I was fairly successful at using up a bunch of things! As always, I’ll link to any reviews, and let you know if I plan to repurchase (right away, or eventually) or not at all. This is a long one!

Empties May 2019 / Makeup Declutter

Skincare Empties:

Empties May 2019

Goldfaden MD Bright Eyes Eye Cream – (Petit Vour) I really liked this eye cream, hydrating but not greasy, and most importantly it did not irritate my sensitive eyes. I have at least one or more eye creams to use up right now, so no plans to purchase a full size at this time. Review is here.

Shamanuti Seaweed Toner – (Petit Vour) I liked this toner once I changed the spray nozzle, but prefer rose based ones, so I won’t be buying a full size. Review is here.

Lowen’s You Sure Clean Up Nice Face & Body Wash – (PR gifted) It was such a lovely and gentle face and body cleanser (great for travel). This is going on my wishlist as I have more cleansers in my stash to use up. Review is here.

Drunk Elephant Mini Protini Polypeptide Cream & Mini Beste No.9 Jelly Cleanser – (Sephora Beauty Insider Birthday Gift) I really liked both the cleanser and cream in this kit a lot, and will be adding both to my wishlist as I am still working my way through my skincare stash. Review is here.

Lauren B Beauty Reparative Cuticle Oil – (Petit Vour) I really liked this one for winter as my cuticles (and hands) get so dry. I have another cuticle balm in my stash to use up, so I don’t need to replace at this time. Review is here.

Juice Beauty Antioxidant Serum – (Petit Vour) I absolutely loved this serum, and I’ll likely get a full size very soon – I think my serum stash is nearly cleared out. Review is here.

Hair, bath and body:

Empties May 2019

Andalou Naturals 1000 Roses Body Lotion – (Petit Vour) Super hydrating and smells glorious! Going on the wishlist, as I have a few more body lotions to use up. Review is here.

EVOLVH Ultimate Styling Lotion – (Petit Vour) I love this styling lotion, and have another one in my stash already that was PR gifted in the Love Your Curls Discovery Kit. Great for enhancing waves or curls without a crunchy feeling, just soft and frizz-free hair. Review is here.

Natura Siberica Polar Blueberry Beauty Shower Gel (gift from my Estonian in-laws when we visited Tallinn, Estonia) I loved this shower gel and I’m sad that it is finished! I can’t easily replace this, but I would if I could! Review is here.

Little Barn Apothecary Honeysuckle & Grapefruit Body Oil – (Petit Vour) This was a great body oil even though honeysuckle does not work well with my body chemistry. I’d like to try this body oil in a different scent. Review is here.

Makeup Declutter:

Empties May 2019 / Makeup Declutter

Anastasia Beverly Hills Beauty Genius Clear Waterproofing Gel from a Brow Genius Kit – This is ancient (pre-historic even), I found it buried in my makeup stash, the gel has become solid, so I couldn’t use it if I wanted to! This was never reviewed as I got it years before I started blogging.

Colour Pop Ultra Metallic Lip in Man Eater – This is more than two years old, and the texture has gone off, so it is time to get rid of it. This was such a beautiful rose gold liquid lipstick. The shade is still available, so perhaps I’ll eventually replace it! Review is here.

Whew, that is a lot of empties! Did you finish up much this month?

Shamanuti Seaweed Toner

Hello, hello!

Today I have a review fo the Seaweed Toner from Shamanuti that came in my February Petit Vour box. [info in italics taken from the Petit Vour website]

Shamanuti Seaweed Toner1

Skin loves this delicious nutrient and mineral rich toner. It adjusts pH and refines the pores. It will nourish and hydrate the skin while removing any residual make-up or cleanser. Excellent to set makeup as well as a calming aftershave. Always carry this as a companion on long drives or airplane trips to give skin a refresher along your travels. Suitable for all skin types.

Shamanuti Seaweed Toner

If you’ve been reading my blog for awhile, you will know that I absolutely love facial toner / sprays, so I was super excited to see one in the February box.

So how is it? The toner is really fresh and gentle on the skin. I like that it is aloe based. My only complaint is that it doesn’t come out as a fine mist but more of a full on spray. I plan to pour it into another bottle that has a fine mist spray.  The Seaweed Toner has a mild and pleasant scent – I can’t identify exactly what is smells like, but it is nice.

Shamanuti Seaweed Toner

100% Cruelty-Free and Vegan | Aloe Barbadensis (Organic Aloe) Leaf Juice, Ascophyllum Nodosum (Organic Kelp) Extract, Aphanizomenon Flos Aquae (Organic Blue Green Algae) Extract, Sodium Benzoate, Glucolactone, Sodium Hyaluronate (Hyaluronic Acid), Salix nigra (Black Willowbark) Extract, Sodium Chloride (Dead Sea Salt), Glycerin, Essential Oils, Citric Acid

Unboxing & First Impressions Petit Vour February 2019

Hello, hello!

My February Petit Vour arrived on March 1st. I often show my Petit Vour box on my InstaGram, but here on the blog you will get the unboxing AND first impressions. Full reviews to follow once I’ve had a chance to test things out. [all info in italics is taken from the Petit Vour website]

Petit Vour February 2019

Petit Vour is a cruelty-free and vegan monthly subscription box with four (occasionally five) products. The subscription is $18 USD a month in the US, $23 USD for Canada, and $25 USD for the rest of the world. With the exchange rate (@ 1.3478) my box cost me $31 CAD this month.

Let’s take a look at what was in the February Petit Vour box:

Antonym Natural Waterproof Eye Pencil in shade Brown $19 USD

Petit Vour February 2019

A creamy, Ecocert certified, waterproof eye pencil that offers professional performance. Soft and smooth application with rich color pay-off guaranteed to help you achieve the desired look, from a precise line to a perfect smudge for smoky eyes. The high content of moisturizing ingredients and natural antioxidants, marula oil, jojoba oil, candelilla and carnauba are excellent for sensitive skin.

I’m so happy that the eyeliner is brown and not black as I have quite a stash of black eyeliners. It comes with a sharpener too – which I love because I’m always misplacing my sharpener!

Shamanuti Seaweed Toner $10 USD for 1 oz, $28 USD for 4 oz

Petit Vour February 2019

Skin loves this delicious nutrient and mineral rich toner. It adjusts pH and refines the pores. It will nourish and hydrate the skin while removing any residual make-up or cleanser. Excellent to set makeup as well as a calming aftershave. Always carry this as a companion on long drives or airplane trips to give skin a refresher along your travels. Suitable for all skin types.

I love, love, love facial toner mists. Very excited to try it out!

EiR NYC Tough Love Cuticle Balm $14 USD for 0.5 oz

Petit Vour February 2019

We all need to feel the soothing warmth of love and some of our rough and scratchy patches need it even more. The Neem oil used in the Tough Love softening salve is known to have antifungal and antiseptic properties. Improves elasticity for rough skin, feet, elbows, and cuticles that need some extra love.

I really use cuticle balms – especially in the winter, my hands and cuticles get so dry!

Formulary 55 Sea Mineral Foot Soak $7 USD for 1.5 oz

Petit Vour February 2019

Perfect for tired feet, this fizzing foot soak is a wonderful way to end a long day. This peppermint and eucalyptus effervescent foot soak is made with pure essential oils and Dead Sea mineral salts.

This sounds interesting, I look forward to trying it out.

Petit Vour February 2019

The total value of this month’s Petit Vour box adds up to $ 50 USD which converts to $67.39 CAD.

What do you think of this month’s box? I think that is is pretty great this month, and I can’t wait see what is in the March box!

June 2018 Empties

Hello, hello!

I cannot believe it is July already! This month I didn’t finish up as many products as I had hoped, once again, there are so many things that are NEARLY but not quite finished.

Let’s take a look – it is only body and skincare as I haven’t continued going through and decluttering my lipsticks.

Bath and Body Empties:

Empties June 2018

Wildcraft Buff Face and Body Scrub – I love this exfoliating scrub for body use as my face is far too sensitive for this type of exfoliation. It smells like spearmint in a refreshing and non-toothpaste way! I’ll be replacing this as soon as I use up a few more things in my stash. Review is here.

Tom’s Of Maine Deodorant in Soothing Calendula – This deodorant is NOT for me. It worked great at first but it seemed that the longer that I used it, the worse that it worked for me. I’ve heard that it works amazing for some people. I’ve been trying to use this up for so long – and only using it on days that I was working from home. Review is here.

EIR NYC Sunset Oil – This came in my May Petit Vour box. I absolutely loved this body oil for when I got out of the shower. I’m hoping to find something similar but a little more budget friendly. Review is here.

Skincare Empties:

Empties June 2018

Zabana Essentials Banana and Colloidal Oatmeal Face Mask + Scrub – I really liked this facial mask that came in my May Petit Vour box. The sample pack was large enough to get at least 6 to 8 uses! I have things to use up in my stash so I won’t be buying a full size of this one right now. Review is here.

Shamanuti Pumpkin Enzyme Masque – Another Petit Vour product. This was a great mask, but I can find another, more budget friendly dupe. Again, no rush to try to find a dupe for it as I am still working my way through my stash. Review is here.

Ingenium Naturals Tsubaki Oil – This was a great multi-purpose oil. I’ve used it on my face, in my hair, and even in the bath. I have a bunch of oils to use up, so I won’t be replacing this right now. This was a PR sample. Review is here.

Andalou Naturals Goji Peptide Perfecting Cream – This was also from a Petit Vour box. The sample was small, so I could only give first impressions on this facial cream. Again, I have several things to use up in my stash so no need to buy a full size to test right now. Review is here.

Nearly Finished:

Empties June 2018

Wet N Wild Photofocus Pressed Powder – I hit pan on this last month, and it is still hanging on! Hopefully I’ll be able to finish it up in July. Review is here.

So there you have it – all the things that I’ve managed to finish this month. Not as much as I had hoped, but progress is progress. Did you finish up much this month?

Empties June 2018

Thanks for reading and have a beautiful day!

Disclosure: All purchased by me except for the Wildcraft Buff (gift from a friend) and the Ingenium Naturals Tsubaki Oil (PR sample).

Shamanuti Pumpkin Enzyme Mask Review

Hello, hello and happy Friday!

Today I have a review of the Pumpkin Enzyme Mask from Shamanuti that I received in my October Petit Vour subscription box. I’ve had a chance to try this several times now, and feel ready to let you know what I think. [all info in italics is from the Petit Vour website]

Shamanuti Pumpkin Enzyme Masque

WHAT IT IS:
A pumpkin facial masque, rich with nutrients

WHAT IT DOES:
• Transforms dull complexions into brighter, healthier skin
• Rejuvenates skin while preserving its natural, protective mantle

This Pumpkin Masque is rich in natural antioxidants, enzymes and over 100 beneficial nutrients, which increase the rate of cell renewal, transforming dull complexions to bright and healthy skin. Comparable to the effects of alpha hydroxyl acids, this organic face masque rejuvenates skin while preserving its natural protective mantle.

Shamanuti Pumpkin Enzyme Masque

I’ve tested out and reviewed a few pumpkin based facial masks previously – the Pumpkin Honey Glycolic Mask from Anadalou Naturals (review is here) and the Incredible Pumpkin Peel from MyChelle Dermaceuticals (here), so I was excited to try this one out.

Shamanuti Pumpkin Enzyme Masque

Masks have acids or enzymes in them usually tingle when applied – and this one does tingle a bit. For me, it is within the tolerable range, and not in the danger zone of face melting. If you have sensitive skin or sensitivity to acids / enzyme based products ALWAYS DO A PATCH TEST before trying on your face. Trust me on this one.

Your skin will glow after using this mask. And it looks and smells like pumpkin pie filling – which I love! My skin does not feel dry or stripped after using.

Shamanuti Pumpkin Enzyme Masque

I only have one complaint about this mask – the pump in the sample size clogs easily due to the thickness / texture of the mask which is annoying. So I just take the pump off and use it to scoop the mask out of the bottle. The packaging for the full size looks similar to the sample size, so it might be an issue.

100% Cruelty-Free and Vegan | Cucurbita pepo (Pumpkin), Vaccinium Myrtillus (Bilberry) Fruit Extract, Saccharum Officinarum (Sugar Cane) Extract, Acer Saccharinum (Sugar Maple) Extract, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Fruit Extract, Citrus Medica Limonum (Lemon) Extract, Aqua (Water), Vegetable Glycerin, Glycolic Acid, Tocopherol (Vitamin E), Sodium Benzoate, Glucolactone, Limnanthes Alba (Meadowfoam) Oil, Xanthan Gum (Polysaccharide Gum), Cinnamomum Cassia (Cinnamon) Bark, Zingiber Officinale (Ginger) Root Powder, Myristica Fragrans (Nutmeg) Powder, Pimenta Officinalis (Allspice) Powder, Rosmarinus Officnalis (Rosemary Oleoresin), Azadirachta Indica (Neem) Oil

The full size is listed on the Petit Vour website at $42 USD for 4 fluid ounces.

Disclosure: This came in my monthly Petit Vour subscription that I pay for.

October Petit Vour Unboxing + First Impressions

Hello, hello!

When I signed up for a Petit Vour subscription, I had thought that I would not be getting my first box until November, so getting the October box was a nice surprise! (info in italics is taken from the Petit Vour website)

Petit Vour October 2017

Elevate or recreate your beauty routine with a subscription to Petit Vour’s luxury-curated, cruelty-free beauty box. Each month you’ll receive 4 products ($45-$60 value) of non-toxic and plant-based beauty, curated to your beauty profile.

There were five products in this month’s box, and according to the info sheet, this month’s box is worth $47 USD. Let’s take a look at what is inside:

Petit Vour October 2017

It comes with an informational card that lists the cost of both the sample and full sized versions of the products, as well as a product description and instructions for use.

Petit Vour October 2017

Kani Botanicals Moon Milk – I was nervous when I read the description since I really do not like most jasmine based scents, but the combination with the  tuberose somehow works for me. It is quite glittery looking, but I’ll at least try it out. If it ends up being too glittery on my skin, I’ll use it as a scented hair oil.

Petit Vour October 2017

Shamanuti Pumpkin Enzyme Masque – I was super happy to see a facial mask in this box as I’m down to the last bit of my Incredible Pumpkin Peel Mask from MyChelle Dermaceuticals. It smells great, so I can wait to test it out!

Petit Vour October 2017

Petit Vour October 2017

Poetic Blend Ghost Oil – I love facial oils, and with the recent change to colder weather, I will be putting this and several other facial oils to the test! It has no real scent (yay!) and in quickly swatching it on my hand, it absorbed quickly and didn’t leave a greasy residue, so I have high hopes for this one!

Petit Vour October 2017

Mai Couture Highlighter Paper – I don’t really get the purpose of this other than for travelling light. I doubt that this is something that I would ever purchase, but I’ll try it out.

Petit Vour October 2017

Plant Apothecary “Get Happy” Organic Body Wash – This shower gel smells amazing, it will be great to use on sluggish mornings as the geranium and peppermint scent is super upifting! It smells similar to the Wildcraft Buff Face and Body Scrub that I love.

Petit Vour October 2017

Full reviews to follow once I’ve had a chance to try test things out!

Petit Vour October 2017

What do you think? I like knowing that all of the products are cruelty free. And as an added plus, they are also vegan!

Thanks for reading and have a beautiful day! ❤
