Cumulative Empties – March and April 2021

Hello, hello – welcome to / welcome back to A Brash Attitude!

Can you believe that it is already May? Today I have my cumulative empties for March and April. I was *so* close to finishing up a few more things too, but I’m sure they’ll appear in my next empties post.

Skincare:

I think that I did great over the past two months to finish up so many things from my skincare stash!

Pure Savy Come Hell or High Water 3-In-1 Micellar Water *Cert Clean Jury Box 2019-2020* – I found this micellar water to be a little on the soapy side, but it worked really well for removing eye makeup. I have several eye makeup remover products in my stash, so I don’t need to even think about purchasing this.

Versed Dew Point Moisturizing Gel Cream – *I purchased this* I loved this light gel moisturizer. I would likely repurchase this one as it played so well with makeup. A great day moisturizer for my normal to dry skin. Review

Sothys Hydra3Ha Hydrating Comfort Cream *PR package* – This was great for the cold winter weather when my skin needed extra hydration at night. It is a little more scented that my personal preference. Review

Poetic Blend The Hero Oil and The Ghost Oil *Giveaway Prize win* – I loved both of these facial oils. I think that the brand is on hiatus (if someone knows for sure, please let me know) so I don’t think that I could purchase. Review and review

Andalou Naturals Apricot Probiotic Cleansing Milk *Subscription Box* – This was such a lovely creamy cleanser. I would purchase this if I didn’t have a few more cream based cleansers to finish up. Review

Be On Me Cleansing Mousse Sensitive Skin *PR package* – I loved this foaming cleanser, it was super gentle but super effective. I would purchase this once I use up a few more cleansers from my stash. Review

Lowen’s Make Room Balm *PR package* – This is a balm for stretch marks and scars, but I used it all winter on my poor dry hands, and it worked amazingly well. Their balms are really great, would definitely need one in my stash before winter! Review

Haircare:

I only managed to finish up two haircare products, but progress is progress.

NatureLab Tokyo Perfect Repair Conditioner *PR package* – This was an amazing conditioner, it worked really well for hydrating my hair. I would love to try more from this brand – hopefully they will be selling in Canada at some point. Review

EVOLVh UltraShine Moisture Conditioner *I purchased this, but I’ve also received PR from the brand before* – Such an amazing conditioner. It hydrates, it smells amazing. I’d buy this again. I’m almost finished the matching shampoo. Review

There you have it! Everything that I’ve finished over the last two months. Have you finished up much lately?

Thanks for reading

Empties – February 2021

Hello, hello – welcome to / welcome back to A Brash Attitude!

Today I’m sharing my empties for February. I didn’t finish up a lot this month, but progress is progress when it comes to using up my stash and not letting things go to waste! Let’s take a closer look, and I’ll let you know if the products are something that I will re-purchase (either right away, or eventually) or not at all. I’ll also link to the original reviews.

Makeup:

Juice Beauty Stem Cellular CC Cream SPF 30 – I love this, and would buy it again eventually. I have a few on my list that I want to try with a higher SPF, so it will be wish-listed for now. Review is here.

Derma MD Glamour Lip Plump – this was a PR product from several years ago! I really liked it, but it got lost in my stash and its really time to let it go! Review is here.

Skincare:

Poetic Blend The Timeless Oil – I won this in a giveaway. I loved this facial oil! I’m not sure if it is still available or not, but if it is, I would buy it once I use up my facial oil stash. Review is here.

Goldfaden MD Facial Detox Clarify + Clear Mask – I think that this might be my second sample of this facial mask. Really great for a spot treatment for an emergency breakout as it is targeted more for oily / acne prone skin, but I’d buy this as it WORKS! Review is here.

Sothys La Creme Yeux-Lèvres (Eye and Lip Cream) – This was a PR gifted product. The jar was huge, and it took me forever to use it up because you only need the tiniest amount. Because it is such a rich eye cream, I only used it at night. It is an expensive product, so it doesn’t work my budget right now. Review is here.

Be On Me Face Cream Sensitive – This was PR gifted. Such a great facial cream. Hydrating without feeling heavy or greasy. Until I finish up a few more moisturizers in my stash, it will go on my wishlist. Review is here.

Bodycare:

Lowen’s Super Salve – PR gifted. This SAVED my poor dry hands this winter. I plan to buy another jar of this stuff as soon as I finish up a few more salves from my stash. Review is here.

UnderCarriage Deodorant Cream No BS formula, Gerouli scent – Already re-purchased a replacement! This is probably the best baking soda free natural deodorant that I’ve tried thus far. It lasts longer than most, and even the Mister likes using it! Review is here.

Have you finished up much this month? Thanks for reading

Cumulative Empties Aug to Dec 2020 – Hair, Body and Makeup

Hello, hello! Welcome to / welcome back to A Brash Attitude!

Earlier this week I shared my cumulative skincare empties, and today I have my haircare, body care an makeup empties (not decluttered makeup, that was a separate post). I didn’t finish up nearly as much in these categories as I did with my skincare stash, but I still feel like I’m making progress in using up products. I will link to my original reviews and let you know if it is something I would purchase / re-purchase or not (by purchase I mean eventually, as my goal is to only buy products when necessary).

Hair and Body Care:

NatureLab Tokyo Perfect Repair Shampoo – This was a part of a larger PR package from the brand. The matching conditioner has a few uses left in it, so I’m sure it will be in my next round of empties. I really love the Perfect Repair Shampoo – it makes my hair so soft and healthy feeling. I would purchase a full size of this if I can get it here, or order online from a Canadian website.

MoMi Beauty Styling Jelly – This was from my Petit Vour subscription. I liked this a lot, it worked well for my wavy, frizz prone hair. I would love to get a full size of this eventually – once I use up my current stash of styling products.

Sothys Pro-Youth Body Serum – This was a PR product. This is more like a rich body butter than a serum. Amazing for dry skin, and left my skin silky smooth. It is on the pricy side though, and I have a few body lotions / body butters to use up in my stash.

Makeup Empties:

Essence Cosmetics Lips Go Wow Plumping Lip Gloss – I LOVE this lip plumping gloss. It doesn’t sting or burn like a lot of lip plumpers. I plan on getting another one if they still have them at Shoppers / Pharmaprix.

Smashbox SuperFan Mascara – This was a free deluxe sample with purchase. Its a nice mascara, but didn’t hold a curl well for me, so I would not purchase a full size. I think that it is a great mascara if you don’t have stick straight lashes like I do!

So there you have it, the final empties for 2020. I’ve already finished up a few things this month, so I might return to a monthly empties format as long as I finish up a minimum of five products each month.

I’ll be back next week with some Bath and Body product reviews.

Empties February 2020

Hello, hello!

Another month of empties – I’m making slow but steady progress at using up the products in my stash! Becuase I’m on a low buy, I’ll let you know if I plan to re-purchase eventually, and link to my original reviews. Let’s take a look!

Skincare Empties:

Empties February 2020

Lowen’s Natural Skincare Classic Lime Margarita Lip Balm and In Yo Face! Natural BB Cream – these were both from an amazing PR package from Lowen’s – I LOVED both the lip balm and the BB Cream so much! I have a stash of lip balms and facial moisturizers to use up but would replace. Reviews are here and here.

Leahlani Bless Balm – this was from my Petit Vour subscription. I used it both as a lip balm and as a cuticle balm. It was really awesome. I have a few more multi-purpose balms in my stash to use up, so no need to replace just yet. Review was here.

Sothys Paris / Sothys Canada Hydra Smoothing Mask, Energizing Serum, and nO2ctuelle Detox Resurfacing Overnight Cream – all three of these were PR samples. All are excellent high end, spa quality skincare products, that despite being more scented than my personal preference, all worked well for my sensitive skin. I still have a few more masks, serums and moisturizers / creams to use up, so I do not need to replace these right now. Reviews are here, here and here.

Haircare, Makeup and Essential Oil Empties:

Empties Feb 2020

Briogeo Curl Charisma Defining Crème – I bought this ages ago (almost 2 years!), and I finally finished it! I really like this curl cream a lot, but have a few more hair products to use up, so I won’t be replacing right now. Review is here.

Now Essential Oils Cheer Up Buttercup! – I bought this last year I think. And the mister liked it so much, that he bought a replacement for me! I never did review this essential oil, but it is such a bright, sunshine-y citrus scent.

Nyx Total Control Drop Foundation – I really like serum type foundations because they feel so light on the skin. I’m currently using one from Juice Beauty and one from Nyx, so I won’t be replacing right now. Review is here.

Have you finished up much this past month? I’m super close to finishing up a shampoo, a conditioner, and two facial moisturizers already this month.

Sothys Pro-Youth Body Serum Review

Hello, hello!

Today I have a review of the Pro-Youth Body Serum / Sérum Jeunesse Corps that was sent to me from Sothys Canada / PozPub. This body serum won a 2019 Beauté Clin d’oeil award in the category of Body Care products! [info in italics taken from the PozPub press release, and the Sothys Canada website]

Sothys Pro-Youth Body Serum / Sérum jeunesse corps

Your essential body routine! A melt-in formula with the appeal of a grapefruit scent combined with the efficiency of a serum to keep your body looking young.

Sothys Pro-Youth Body Serum / Sérum jeunesse corps

The skin is smoother, firmer, and visibly redensified. Younger-looking body that appears beautifully lifted. PROVEN EFFICIENCY! Visibly redensified skin: 16% after 28 days and 29% after 56 days!* For 89% of users**: This formula is a real youth serum for the body after 28 days **! Sothys Pro-Youth Body Serum / Sérum jeunesse corps

This is a luxurious body serum, the formulation is very rich, but it soaks into the skin fairly quickly, and keeps it hydrated all day. My skin feels super smooth and stays that way until the next day when I shower and re-apply!

Sothys Pro-Youth Body Serum / Sérum jeunesse corps

The key active ingredients are: M 3.0 Peptides, Sacred Lotus Extract, Evening Primrose Oil, Hyaluronic Acid Substitute, Complex of Vitamins and Omegas 3, 6, and 9.

As for the firming claims, I’ve only used it two weeks thus far, so I can’t really comment on that aspect of the Pro-Youth Body Serum. I’ll try to update this post after a few more weeks of use.

Sothys Pro-Youth Body Serum / Sérum jeunesse corps

Have you tried this body serum?

Sothys Detoxify – Energize Skincare Collection Review

Hello, hello!

Today I’m reviewing three products from the new Detoxify – Energize  / Detox Energie Skincare Collection from Sothys, that was kindly gifted to me from the PR team PozPub / Sothys Canada. [info in italics taken from press release and Sothys website]

Sothys Detox Energie / Detoxify Energize

This collection aims to detox and protect the skin from pollution, which is a cause of premature aging on the skin. The Detox Energie / Detoxify Energize line was developed to make the skin more luminous, better oxygenated, and boosted, its youthful radiance restored.

There are five items in the Detox Energie / Detoxify Energize line:  Energizing Serum / Sérum énergisant intégral (depollute / oxygenate), Protective Depolluting Essence / Essence dépolluante protectrice (anti-pollution shield), Instant Energizing Corrector / Correcteur énergisant instantané (unify), Energizing Radiance Ampoules / Ampoules éclat énergisantes (smoothing), and Depolluting Youth Cream / Crème jeunesse dépolluante (rebalance the microbiome) .

I received the Energizing Serum, Protective Depolluting Essence and Instant Energizing Corrector and have been testing them out for a few weeks now. Let’s take a closer look at each one:

Energizing Serum / Sérum énergisant intégral:

Sothys Detox Energie / Detoxify Energize

This powerful detoxifying and energizing cocktail is an incredibly gentle and light-textured serum: the ideal boost to your skincare ritual. Skin regains its vitality and looks younger.

Key ingredients: Organic energizing Siberian ginseng root extract (Protects the cell to maintain good energy levels and boosts intracellular energy) and Organic elderberry extract – A complete active ingredient to protect against pollution 92%*. Anti-free radical. * Anti-pollution protection: 92% – in vitro testing of keratinocytes exposed to urban pollution.

This is a light, milky looking serum. It absorbs into my skin quickly and feels very gentle, but hydrating without feeling sticky or greasy. It is scented, but does not trigger a reaction for me.

Protective Depolluting Essence / Essence dépolluante protectrice:

Sothys Detox Energie / Detoxify Energize

To incorporate into your beauty ritual every day, and protect your skin’s youth. This formula works like a barrier against pollution. Its innovative dropper bottle provides just the right amount of protection, every day while enveloping the skin in an ultra-comfortable hydrating veil. * Depolluting = helps to limit damaged to the skin caused by pollution.

Key ingredients: Detoxifying peptides [Biomimetic design. 360°global antipollution (outdoor/ indoor/internal)], Organic energizing Siberian ginseng root extract and Organic elderberry extract.

In the morning, this is applied after your moisturizer, and in the evening, before applying moisturizer. This is a very watery essence, but it absorbs into the skin fairly quickly, leaving a very slight tacky finish at first (but the tackiness disappears quickly). This one is also scented – but again, does not trigger a reaction for me.

Instant Energizing Corrector / Correcteur énergisant instantané:

Sothys Detox Energie / Detoxify Energize

An incredible texture that transforms during application to adapt to all skin tones and skin types EE* cream contains encapsulated pigments to instantly target and correct any imperfections visible on the skin’s surface. * Energy Enhancer

Key Ingredients: Detoxifying peptides, Organic energizing Siberian ginseng root extract and Organic elderberry extract.

This one is very much a blurring and brightening product, and it makes my skin so glowy and radiant. You can use it one its own for makeup free days, or as a primer before makeup. This turned out to my my favourite of the three products, and I find myself only wearing foundation when I have client meetings, and the rest of the time just wearing this with under-eye concealer and a touch of setting powder – it makes my skin look so good!

Sothys Detox Energie / Detoxify Energize

Have you tried anything form the Sothys Detox Energie / Detoxify Energize line?

Sothys Bleu Envoûtant Fall Winter 2019 Makeup Collection Review

Hello, hello!

Today I have a review of some of the products from the newly launched Sothys Fall Winter 2019 Collection: Bleu Envoûtant that was kindly sent to me from Sothys Canada / PozPub to test out. [info in italics taken from Press Release]

Sothys Bleu Envoûtant Fall Winter 2019 Makeup Collection

A new, magnetic and daring collection for a luminous and sophisticated make-up look. This season, Sothys is revealing its secret and showcasing captivating and radiantly beautiful make-up! Seductive and mysterious woman chic!

There are six products in the Bleu Envoûtant Collection – Stylo Illuminator, Illuminating Powder, Ombre Sothys Eye Quartet Palette, Intense Look Eye Pencil, Lip Duo Palette, and  Vernis Sothys Nail Lacquer. I received three items from the new collection: Stylo Illuminator, Illuminating Powder, Ombre Sothys Eye Quartet Palette.

Sothys Bleu Envoûtant Fall Winter 2019 Makeup Collection

Let’s take a closer look at them:

Stylo Illuminator

Sothys Bleu Envoûtant Fall Winter 2019 Makeup Collection - Stylo Illumuminator

Fluid texture; radiant finish and natural coverage. A clever little product which is dabbed on to help revive complexion radiance. Enriched with light-reflecting mineral agents, this formula has an instant illuminating effect on the complexion. Complex of skincare ingredients (hyaluronic acid + silk tree bark extract + tetrapeptides) renowned for their anti-ageing and moisturizing actions.

It took several clicks of this illuminating pen to get the product to flow onto the brush tip. But once it worked, it was super easy to use and blend into the skin for a beautiful and subtle radiant finish. (The swatch above was not blended out)

Illuminating Powder for Eyelids, Face and Décolleté in 10 Beige Éclatant

Sothys Bleu Envoûtant Fall Winter 2019 Makeup Collection - Illuminating Powder 10 Beige Éclatant

Sothys Bleu Envoûtant Fall Winter 2019 Makeup Collection - Illuminating Powder 10 Beige Éclatant

Multi-purpose powder. Soft texture which allows you to adapt the coverage with no caking effect. Formula enriched with light reflecting pearls for a luminous and radiant complexion and décolletage. Universal shade which adapts to all skin tones.

This is such a beautiful illuminating / highlighting powder – it gives the skin such a beautiful and luminous glow without being glittery. The powder is so finely milled and silky on the skin.

Ombre Sothys Eye Quartet Palette in 50 Harmonie de tons Smoky

Sothys Bleu Envoûtant Fall Winter 2019 Makeup Collection - Ombre Sothys Eye Quartet Palette 50 Harmonie de Tons Smoky

Dress up your eyes with four new shades of Ombre Sothys, to easily create the simplest of sophisticated make-up. Four new complimentary shades: to be used separately or in harmony, wet or dry. Long-lasting and comfortable textures; iridescent and matte finish; buildable coverage.

These shadows swatches above were done on primer. The blue shade is so difficult to capture, but it is quite striking when the light hits it! Out of the four shades, one has a matte finish (top left shadow – mauve-taupe), and the other three have an iridescent finish (top right – gold, bottom left – deep blue, and bottom right – smoky grey). The can be applied dry for a more subtle effect, or wet to really bring out the drama! Very finely milled, buildable and blendable shades.

Sothys Summer Chill Spring-Summer 2019 Makeup Collection

Hello, hello!

I was recently sent a few PR package with products from the new Summer Chill collection, from Sothys / PozPub. [info in italics taken from the Spring-Summer Makeup Collection press release, first photo taken from Sothys website]

The new Spring-Summer makeup collection inspired by chic, ethnic style, is an invitation to travel, to unwind and to relax.  […] Fresh and vibrant tones Fushia and poppy embellished with luminous nude colours for a chic and cool summer collection.

Sothys Spring Summer 2019 Makeup Collection

The seven piece collection contains a matte bronzing powder (Terre Lointaine), a radiant blush (Rose d’été), an eyeshadow palette (Harmonie de tons “Nude”), a matte contour lip pencil (Teint Universelle), two Lipstick Pencils (Fushia Fauve and Rouge Orangé) and a nail polish (Fushia Fauve). I received five products from this collection. Let’s take a look:

The Eyeshadow Palette Harmonie de tons “Nude” contains four taupe / mauve toned nude shades with an iridescent finish.

This palette is beautiful, it has a matte black magnetic case. The shadows all have a pearly finish, and the colours all work together.

The shadows are soft and buttery, quite pigmented for nude tones. I can see this palette working for a wide range of skin tones. Very wearable colours.

The matte Contour Lip Pencil in Teint Universelle (Universal Shade) is a lip pencil that  can work with all lipstick shades. It can be used on its own as well.

Sothys Spring Summer 2019 Makeup Collection - Ombre Sothys Eye Quartet Palette 40 harmonie de tons nude

The lip pencil is long wearing and pigmented, surprisingly comfortable on the lips.

The Lipstick Pencil in shades Fushia Fauve and Rouge Orangé with shea butter, brown algae extract and castor oil (for hydration, plumping and shine).

Sothys Spring Summer 2019 Makeup Collection - Lipstick Pencil in Rouge Orangé and Fushia Fauve

I really love these lipsticks, very comfortable, pigmented and long wearing. The colours are so bright and juicy!

The Nail Polish in the shade Fushia Fauve with vitamins B5, C and E, as well as sweet almond oil for for protecting and nourishing the nails.

Sothys Spring Summer 2019 Makeup Collection - Nail Polish Fushia Fauve

This polish is super shiny, and bright. I love the pop of colour! I can see myself wearing this polish a lot.

What do you think of this makeup collection?

Sothys Hydra3HA Hyaluronic Acid Discovery Kit Review

Hello, hello!

I received the Hydra3HA Discovery kit from Sothys Canada / PozPub to test out. Our weather has been super cold so my skin needs a little extra hydration so I was excited to try out this hyaluronic acid based kit.

Sothys Hydra3HA Discovery Kit

The Hydra3HA Hyaluronic Acid Discovery Kit contains three products formulated with triple hyaluronic acid: the Hydrating Youth Cream, the Hydrating Comfort Youth Cream and the Hydra-Smoothing Mask. [info in italics taken from their press release and from the Sothys website]

Sothys Hydra3HA Discovery Kit

Well-moisturized skin appears visibly younger and stands up better to the test of time. Driven by the latest in advance research discoveries on its exclusive active ingredient, 1055 boletus extract, Sothys is now renewing its hydration programme with a triple hyaluronic acid.

Goal number one: To immediately restore moisture and protect the skin on a daily basis.

The Hydrating Youth Cream comes in two different textures: the Hydrating Youth Cream (light emulsion, for normal to combination skin) and the Hydrating Comfort Youth Cream (creamy balm, for normal to dry skin). Result: +53% hydration after 3 hours.

Sothys Hydra3HA Discovery Kit - Hydrating Youth Cream

My skin ranges from normal to dry, especially in the winter time, but I decided to test both of the Hydrating Youth Creams out, for several weeks now, and they are super hydrating.

Sothys Hydra3HA Discovery Kit - Hydrating Comfort Youth Cream

I especially like using the lighter Youth Cream in the mornings, under foundation and the balmier Comfort Youth Cream at night. Both play nicely with make-up though, for me it all depends on how much hydration my skin needs on any given day based on how cold the weather is.

Hydra-Smoothing Mask: This creamy mask instantly envelops the skin with softness upon application. The skin is hydrated, smoother, rejuvenated. Result: +60% hydration, and +30% smoothing.

Sothys Hydra3HA Discovery Kit - Hydra-smoothing Mask

I love hydrating masks, you can either wash it off after 15 to 20 minutes, or let it soak into the skin for a super hydration boost. Especially great for the winter weather!

Here’s a little info on the actives (triple Hyaluronic Acids):

1055 Boletus Extract: An exclusive, patented active ingredient from Sothys Advanced Research. Hyaluronic acid booster. Action on the barrier function. Action on moisture flow. Pro-youthfulness action. HPM Hyaluronic Acid in Patch Form + “Quenching” Active Ingredients: Surface action to form a protective film and progressively release the essential components of the NMF. HPM Hyaluronic Acid in Free Form: Selected for its surface protecting and water retaining action.

Sothys Hydra3HA Discovery Kit

As with all Sothys products, they are more scented than I prefer. This line is described as having a floral, aquatic, musky scent. I personally don’t smell any musk (thankfully, I’m not a fan of musky scents). The scent isn’t long lasting and it doesn’t trigger a reaction for me.
