Shop My Stash - Bronzers for Pale Skin

Hello, hello!

I’ve been digging through my makeup stash and doing a bit of decluttering, and rediscovered my small bronzer stash.

Shop My Stash - Bronzers for Pale Skin

I’m super pale, so I have to really use a light hand when applying bronzer, but I have a few that actually work for my skintone once I get a tiny bit of not quite a tan, but less ghostly pale, haha!

Shop My Stash - Bronzers for Pale Skin

Too Faced Sweethearts Bronzer in the shades Sweet Tea (got it at Generation Beauty, Toronto 2016) – a shimmery bronzer, the lighter of the two shades works better for me. Original review is here.

Ciate Bamboo Bronzer in the shade Palm Island (Ipsy Glam bag sample) – a matte bronzer. Original review is here

Tarte Amazonian Clay Bronzer in the shade Park Avenue Princess (I’ve had this in my stash forever, I got it from Sephora a zillion years ago) – slightly shimmery, not quite matte bronzer, probably the first bronzer I’d ever tried! Original review is here.

the Balm Bronzer in the shade Bahama Mama (Ipsy Glam bag sample) – another matte bronzer, very similar to the one from Ciate. Original review is here.

Swatches from left to right – Too Faced Sweethearts Bronzer shades Sweet Tea 1 & 2, Ciate Bamboo Bronzer in the shade Palm Island, Tarte Amazonian Clay Bronzer in the shade Park Avenue Princess, and the Balm Bronzer in the shade Bahama Mama.

Ipsy Glam Bag Unboxing and First Impressions August 2017

Hello, hello!

Today I’m unboxing my Ipsy Glam Bag for August – it arrived on the 17th, the same day that I returned home from my vacation. All info in italics is taken from the Ipsy website.

Here’s what was in this month’s bag:

The Balm Voyage Vol. 2 Shadow in Kuwakaribisha

  • Our fave new way to get glowing: this pale peachy powder is super pigmented, shimmery but not sparkly, and is totally buildable (in case you want your highlight to be extra extra).
  • We apply this underneath our brow bones and at the inner corners of our eyes whenever we need to wake things up a lil bit (AKA every day).
  • Looking for a neutral eyeshadow to balance out cat eyes, cut creases, and all that fun stuff? Look no further.

Ipsy Glam Bag Aug 2017

This is a really pretty shadow / luminizer, so I’m happy to add it to my single shadow collection! *Cruelty free*

Naked Cosmetics HD Finishing Transluscent Powder

  • This finely milled powder is super lightweight so you’ll never look chalky or cakey.
  • We dusted it on before heading to ipsy HQ in the AM and our foundation looked mysteriously good all day. It definitely helps lengthen the wear of other makeup.
  • You can also wear it alone (just dust allover, no foundation needed) to quickly even things out, brighten, and tone down shine.
Eyeko Black Magic Mascara
  • This water-resistant, cruelty-free mascara manages to help curl even the straightest lashes. And if you apply after using a lash curler, it’s even crazier!
  • The curvy brush grabs onto every last lash coating it in jet black pigment.
  • It’s got Keratin and shea butter, which conditions your lashes.
  • The unique squeezy tube packaging means less waste!
This mascara is actually pretty good for a non-waterproof formulation, it doesn’t leave me with racoon eyes. The water resistant claim is true. It is a super dark black mascara (always my fave) and doesn’t make my eyelashes feel dry. However, I don’t think that it holds a curl very well for my stubborn long yet stick straight lashes. I have to curl my lashes, apply the mascara and then re-curl my lashes once the mascara dries.
Vitamasques Face Food Yoghurt Mask Duo
Ipsy Glam Bag Aug 2017

  • Call the crew over for a spa night in because these amazing masks are too good not to share.
  • The Strawberry Yoghurt Mask has (you guessed it) strawberry and yoghurt extract to smooth and illuminate.
  • The Kiwi Yoghurt Mask works to soften and revitalize thanks to (mhm) kiwi and yoghurt extracts.
Crown Brush SS035 Medium Face Contour Brush
Ipsy Glam Bag Aug 2017
  • The synthetic bristles are insanely soft. Like, cuddling with puppies soft.
  • It really holds onto product which makes application way more precise and way less messy. (No need to clean up your vanity after!)
  • The versatile size works great for blush, contour, highlight, foundation, setting, and more.

Brushes are one of my fave things to receive from Ipsy, so I was super happy with this super soft synthetic brush. *Cruelty free*

Ipsy Glam Bag Aug 2017

This month’s bag was way better than last month! I’m happy that I received mostly cruelty free products.

Spring Cleaning Project – Month 2 Check-In & Update

Hello, hello!

The lovely Ingrid from Curly Spring Blossom has once again convinced me to take part in a new project pan – this time a Spring Cleaning Project Pan. This one is a little different than the previous ones, as we will be only posting once a month with our progress and reviewing four of the sixteen products to be panned.

Today is the second month check-in and update and review of four of the products! I’ve been pretty good about using every product at least once or twice a week, and for some products, I’m using them more than that.

Concrete Minerals Bitches Brew

I’ve been wearing this shadow a lot over the past month, it is such a beautiful duochrome shadow, described on the Concrete Mineral site as an electric lavender w/ golden-orange shift. My original review and swatches are here. I absolutely love this one!

Spring Cleaning Concrete Minerals

TheBalm Meet Matt(e) Trimony Matt Moskowitz

I’ve been wearing this matte plum toned shadow quite a bit, it works well with so many shadows in my collection. It is highly pigmented and long wearing. I got this in my first ever Ipsy Glam Bag – the original unboxing review is here.

Spring Cleaning TheBalm

Tarte Maracuja Oil

I’ve had samples of this facial oil many times over the years, this most recent one came in my December Ipsy Glam Bag. I think that this is the very first facial oil that I had ever tried. It came in handy during our recent cold snap as my skin became super dry, and this helped my skin recover. I’ve been putting a few drops in with my moisturizer for an added moisture boost.

Haus of Gloi Pumpkin Butter Rosy Cheeked

Haus of Gloi Pumpkin Butters are my all time favourite body moisturizers. They come in both their general catalogue (permanent scents) and their seasonal (limited edition) scents. I have several of these Pumpkin Butters in my stash, they are thick and highly moisturizing without being greasy. Rosy Cheeked is a seasonal scent from their Yule collection, and the scent is a blend of pink grapefruit, fir needles, juniper berries, rosemary, parsley and winter lillies. I love these scented pumpkin butters, because they are beautifully scented, but not over-powering.

Now for a little science on all sixteen of the products! I borrowed Stashy’s scientific method for measuring progress – I’ve weighed each of the products on my new little kitchen scale, so I can keep track of how much I will have used up each month.

Spring Cleaning Update #2

Despite using all of the makeup items several times each week for the past month, there is very little change on the scales – so frustrating! I can definitely see progress with the non-makeup items though!

Don’t forget to check out Ingrid’s blog for her Spring Cleaning Project!

Feel like joining in? Let us know! The next update will be on May 1st!

Thanks for reading, and have a beautiful day! ❤

Spring Cleaning Project – 1 Month Check-In & Update

Hello, hello!

The lovely Ingrid from Curly Spring Blossom has once again convinced me to take part in a new project pan – this time a Spring Cleaning Project Pan. This one is a little different than the previous ones, as we will be only posting once a month with our progress and reviewing four of the sixteen products to be panned.

Today is the one month check-in and update and review of four of the products! I’ve been pretty good about using every product at least once or twice a week, and for some products, I’m using them more than that.

Smith’s Rosebud Salve:

Spring Cleaning Project (Pan) Collab

I don’t know how many of these tins I’ve purchased over the years, but I usually have one every winter. This is my main “at home” lip balm for winter. This winter my lips have been super dry, so I’ve been using this all the time when I’m home.

Garnier Fructis Style De-constructed Beach Chic Spray

Spring Cleaning Project (Pan) Collab

Someone gave this to me because they didn’t like it. I still can’t remember who it was. But I can understand why they passed it on! It has a really strong scent that just does not seem to fade. I only use this once a week, on the day before I plan on washing my hair. I don’t love this. I don’t really even like it. It makes my hair feel gross and crunchy. If it isn’t finished by the end of this project pan, I’ll be dumping it out and recycling the container.

The Balm Bahama Mama Bronzer

Spring Cleaning Project (Pan) Collab

This is a nice matte bronzer – I just have to be careful in applying it, since I’m super pale. I love that it isn’t shimmery. I’ve been trying to use it most days that I wear makeup.

The Balm Cabana Boy Blush

Spring Cleaning Project (Pan) Collab

I absolutely LOVE this blush! It works really well with my skintone. I’ve been wearing this one a lot every week! I’ve added the full sized version to my wishlist.

Now for a little science on all sixteen of the products! I borrowed Stashy’s scientific method for measuring progress – I’ve weighed each of the products on my new little kitchen scale, so I can keep track of how much I will have used up each month.

Spring Cleaning Project (Pan)

Ok, I don’t understand why Cabana Boy did not decrease in weight, but Bahama Mama did when I actually used Cabana Boy way more! And ColourPop Sticky Sweet increased in weight!

But as you can see, I am making some progress on a lot of the products.

Don’t forget to check out Ingrid’s blog for her Spring Cleaning Project!

Feel like joining in? Let us know! The next update will be on April 3rd!

Thanks for reading, and have a beautiful day! ❤

Spring Cleaning Project 2017 (Collab)

Hello, hello!

The lovely Ingrid from Curly Spring Blossom has once again convinced me to take part in a new project pan – this time a Spring Cleaning Project Pan. This one is a little different than the previous ones, as we will be only posting once a month with our progress and reviewing four of the sixteen products to be panned.

Make-up:

Spring Cleaning Project Pan CollabSpring Cleaning Project Pan Collab

1. The Balm Bahama Mama (Bronzer / Blush)

2. The Balm Cabana Boy (Blush)

3. ColourPop Sticky Sweet (Blush)

4. ColourPop Stole the Show (Highlighter)

I’ve never hit pan on a blush, highlighter or bronzer. I’ve always just gotten rid of products when they get too old. I have so many cheek products that just don’t get enough love, so I thought that I would try to pick enough variety that I won’t get bored trying to use these ones up!

5. Concrete Minerals Bitches Brew (Eyeshadow)

6. ColourPop Birthday Girl (Eyeshadow)

7. ColourPop Stereo (Eyeshadow)

These are all beautiful colours, but I haven’t used any of them in quite awhile. I tried to pick colours that would work well with my Tartelette Matte palette.

8. The Balm Matte Moskowitz (Eyeshadow)

Other than swatching this deluxe eyeshadow sample, I think that I might have only worn this once since getting it in an Ipsy Glam bag a few months ago.

9. NudeStix Pulse (Lip & Cheek Stick)

This was lost in my stash for ages, I’d completely forgotten that I got this at last year’s Ipsy Generation Beauty event last May.

Skin, Body, and Hair Care:

Spring Cleaning Project Pan Collab

10. Sukin Facial Scrub

I have several scrubs in my skincare stash, this one was the oldest one, so thats how it ended up in this round of panning.

11. Tarte Maracuja Oil

I picked this facial oil so that I will finally get around to reviewing it!

12. Haus of Gloi Pumpkin Butter – Rosy Cheeks

13. Haus of Gloi Pumpkin Butter – Cozy Rose

I still have a few other jars of Pumpkin Butter in my stash. I’ve banned myself from buying anything from HoG until I use up more of my stash!

14. Smith’s Rosebud Salve

Another lip balm that was lost in the house. Now that I’ve found it, I’m going to use it up!

15. The Body Shop Grapeseed Glossing Serum

When I first got this hair serum, I used it all the time. I just want to finish it!

16. Garnier Fructus Style De-Constructed Beach Chic

Someone gave this to me because they didn’t like the scent. I haven’t used it since the summer, but since I mostly wear my hair wavy, it is a good excuse to maybe finish it. If I don’t finish it by the end of this project pan, it will be going in the trash, or given away.

This time around, I’ll be using Stashy’s scientific method for measuring progress – I’ve weighed each of the products on my new little kitchen scale, so I can keep track of how much I will have used up each month.

Ipsy Glam Bag Jan 2017 Unboxing & First Impressions

Hello, hello!

Just a little unboxing and first impressions for you today for January’s Ipsy Glam Bag. This month’s theme was Metropolis, and the bag is a silvery blue perforated faux leather with a silver lining (visible through the cut outs).

ipsy-jan17-2

Let’s take a look inside this month’s bag! *Descriptions in Italics are from the Ipsy website*

Up first is theBalm’s Bahama Mama Bronzer:

Ipsy Glam Bag Jan 2017

When you get back from a beach vaycay, your skin looks sun-kissed, not orange, right? Point being, any natural-looking bronzer is going to have brown undertones, and this one nails it. And since it’s matte, you can also use it to contour, as shadow, or to fill in brows.

ipsy-jan17-4

I was surprised that I liked this one, but it is a nice natural looking, matte bronzer – even on my pale face! I just have to be careful and apply with a light hand. A cruelty free brand!

Ipsy Glam Bag Jan 2017

The second product is the Briogeo Rosarco Blow Dry Perfection Heat Protectant Crème:

This silicone-free hotshot smoothes, boosts shine, tames frizz, and protects hair up to 425°F. Plus the ingredient list is totally hair care #SquadGoals: Rosehip oil shields hair from UV damage, argan oil combats frizz, coconut oil seals in moisture, and algae extract strengthens hair.

Ipsy Glam Bag Jan 2017

I was super happy to get this one as it was on my wishlist after trying the Don’t Despair, Repair Hair Mask. I try not to heat style my hair, but I occasionally use my hair dryer in the winter time, so this is perfect. Review to follow once I’ve used tested it out! Another cruelty free brand!

The third product is the Pur~lisse Blue Lotus Seed 5-in-1 Mud Mask & Exfoliant:

As a rule, mud masks can be well, messy, but this one makes you feel more like you’re at the spa than running a tough mudder. It also does about 10 million amazing things for your complexion (we’re talking brighten, detoxify, tighten, and soothe, all while gently exfoliating), thanks to a power combo of ingredients including blue lotus seeds, bamboo, white clay, ginger, and mushroom.

Ipsy Glam Bag Jan 2017

I’m not testing out any new skin care products until next weekend, but I can tell you that my skin liked everything that I’ve tried thus far from Pur~lisse. Review to follow once I’ve tested it out! Another cruelty brand!

The fourth product is the Naked Cosmetics Mica Pigment in Desert Sunset #02:

Made with the most vivid pigments, so we get more color on our lids. And the gorgeous shimmery champagne shade is still giving us a buzz.

Ipsy Glam Bag Jan 2017

ipsy-jan17-9

Ok, this loose shadow pigment is GORGEOUS! Although the Ipsy description is champagne, on me it pulls more rose gold in tone! I’m not 100% sure of this company’s cruelty free status – still researching. If you know, please tell me!

Ipsy Glam Bag Jan 2017

And the fifth and final product is the SLMissGlam Blend Beauty Brush L34:

No boring brushes here! Of course we totally love the purple handle (side note: it’s not only pretty, but much easier to find in an overcrowded makeup bag). The ombré bristles are made of a super soft synthetic material, and the shape is ideal for applying color either just in the crease, or all over your lid.

Ipsy Glam Bag Jan 2017

I love getting brushed in my Ipsy Glam Bag, it is a great way to expand your brush collection, and test out different brands. This brush has super soft synthetic bristles. The brushes are hand crafted and cruelty free!

I was super happy with this month’s Ipsy Glam Bag. Were you happy with yours?

Thanks for reading and have a beautiful day!

Unboxing My First Ever Ipsy Glam Bag (July 2016)

Hello, hello!

I just received my very first Ipsy Glam Bag last week. So I thought that I would do a little unboxing and review for you all. I was so excited when my mail carrier handed my bright pink envelope!

The theme for this month’s bag was “Hot Summer Nights” and the bag is a super cute silver bag with little beach umbrellas.

Ipsy GlamBag July 2016

So what was in my Glam Bag?

Ipsy GlamBagJuly4

A deluxe sample sized Joy Inducing Hand and Body Lotion from Not Soap Radio. This is a really nice hand and body lotion filled with a sweet lemony goodness scent that is not too overpowering. I’d never heard of this brand before, and was happy to see that they are cruelty free, as well as being free from parabens, sulfates, and phthalates.

A single shadow from the Balm from their Meet Matt(e) Trimony collection in the shade Matt Muskowitz, a deep plummy shade. I’ve really been into matte shadows these days, and was lamenting that I didn’t own very many mattes, so this is a great addition to my single shadow collection.

Ipsy GlamBag July 2016

I received a makeup brush, which thankfully wasn’t jammed into the makeup bag because the bristles would have gotten crunched. This brush is from Sedona Lace, and is brush EB13, a synthetic blending brush. This is a nice brush – I love adding to my brush collection. Another cruelty free brand.

A full sized Banana Setting Powder from Bellapierre Cosmetics! To be honest, I was afraid of this powder at first because it looks SO VERY YELLOW. But it blends in flawlessly! I’ve used it for setting my undereye concealer. This setting powder is super silky. Another cruelty free brand.

Ipsy GlamBag July 2016

The final product is a deluxe sample sized tube of the GravityMud Firming Treatment Mask from GlamGlow. I only tested this one on my wrist. There is no way that I could EVER use this on my sensitive facial skin! I’ll be passing this one on. This product is not cruelty free.

Ipsy GlamBag July 2016

All in all I really liked four of the five items in my very first Ipsy Glam Bag! I was super happy that nearly everything in my bag was cruelty free! If you get the Ipsy Glam Bag, were you happy with yours?
