Spring Cleaning Project Collab – Month 4 Update & Final Thoughts

Hello, hello!

The lovely Ingrid from Curly Spring Blossom has once again convinced me to take part in a new project pan – this time a Spring Cleaning Project Pan. This one is a little different than the previous ones, as we will be only posting once a month with our progress and reviewing four of the sixteen products to be panned.

Today is the fourth and final month check-in and update and review of the last four products! I actually managed to finish off a few of the products!

Review of the final four products:

Spring Cleaning Project

The Body Shop Grapeseed Glossing Serum – originally reviewed here. This serum works well, but I’ve gotten to the point where I cannot stand the scent of this hair serum. I’m glad to have managed to finish this one up!

Haus of Gloi Cozy Rose Pumpkin Butter  – I’ve professed my love for the Haus of Gloi Pumpkin Butters. And the Cosy Rose scent is probably my all time fave of theirs. I’m sad that I finished this one since it is a limited edition / seasonal scent. It has a gorgeous rose and nag champa blend scent that somehow works.

ColourPop SuperShock Shadow in Stereo – original review is here. Sadly, I didn’t manage to finish this one, but am so in love with this shade!

ColourPop SuperShock Shadow in Birthday Girl – original review is here. This one is starting to dry out a little, so it is kind of chunky and messy to use now, but it is one of the nicest gold shadows in my collection.

Final update on the rest of the products: Now for a little science on all sixteen of the products! I borrowed Stashy’s scientific method for measuring progress – I’ve weighed each of the products on my new little kitchen scale, so I can keep track of how much I will have used up each month.

Unfinished products:

The makeup products, with the exception of the NudeStix, were so frustratingly slow to show any progress, but I am proud that some of the products finally show signs of usage!

Finished products:

Spring Cleaning Project

I’m super happy to have finished off all of these products from my stash! With skin, body and hair care products, progress is really easy to see, and keeps me encouraged to continue with my ongoing “use it up” / low buy project!

All in all, I don’t think that I did too badly in this project pan challenge!

Spring Cleaning Project – Month 2 Check-In & Update

Hello, hello!

The lovely Ingrid from Curly Spring Blossom has once again convinced me to take part in a new project pan – this time a Spring Cleaning Project Pan. This one is a little different than the previous ones, as we will be only posting once a month with our progress and reviewing four of the sixteen products to be panned.

Today is the second month check-in and update and review of four of the products! I’ve been pretty good about using every product at least once or twice a week, and for some products, I’m using them more than that.

Concrete Minerals Bitches Brew

I’ve been wearing this shadow a lot over the past month, it is such a beautiful duochrome shadow, described on the Concrete Mineral site as an electric lavender w/ golden-orange shift. My original review and swatches are here. I absolutely love this one!

Spring Cleaning Concrete Minerals

TheBalm Meet Matt(e) Trimony Matt Moskowitz

I’ve been wearing this matte plum toned shadow quite a bit, it works well with so many shadows in my collection. It is highly pigmented and long wearing. I got this in my first ever Ipsy Glam Bag – the original unboxing review is here.

Spring Cleaning TheBalm

Tarte Maracuja Oil

I’ve had samples of this facial oil many times over the years, this most recent one came in my December Ipsy Glam Bag. I think that this is the very first facial oil that I had ever tried. It came in handy during our recent cold snap as my skin became super dry, and this helped my skin recover. I’ve been putting a few drops in with my moisturizer for an added moisture boost.

Haus of Gloi Pumpkin Butter Rosy Cheeked

Haus of Gloi Pumpkin Butters are my all time favourite body moisturizers. They come in both their general catalogue (permanent scents) and their seasonal (limited edition) scents. I have several of these Pumpkin Butters in my stash, they are thick and highly moisturizing without being greasy. Rosy Cheeked is a seasonal scent from their Yule collection, and the scent is a blend of pink grapefruit, fir needles, juniper berries, rosemary, parsley and winter lillies. I love these scented pumpkin butters, because they are beautifully scented, but not over-powering.

Now for a little science on all sixteen of the products! I borrowed Stashy’s scientific method for measuring progress – I’ve weighed each of the products on my new little kitchen scale, so I can keep track of how much I will have used up each month.

Spring Cleaning Update #2

Despite using all of the makeup items several times each week for the past month, there is very little change on the scales – so frustrating! I can definitely see progress with the non-makeup items though!

Spring Cleaning Project 2017 (Collab)

Hello, hello!

The lovely Ingrid from Curly Spring Blossom has once again convinced me to take part in a new project pan – this time a Spring Cleaning Project Pan. This one is a little different than the previous ones, as we will be only posting once a month with our progress and reviewing four of the sixteen products to be panned.

Make-up:

Spring Cleaning Project Pan CollabSpring Cleaning Project Pan Collab

1. The Balm Bahama Mama (Bronzer / Blush)

2. The Balm Cabana Boy (Blush)

3. ColourPop Sticky Sweet (Blush)

4. ColourPop Stole the Show (Highlighter)

I’ve never hit pan on a blush, highlighter or bronzer. I’ve always just gotten rid of products when they get too old. I have so many cheek products that just don’t get enough love, so I thought that I would try to pick enough variety that I won’t get bored trying to use these ones up!

5. Concrete Minerals Bitches Brew (Eyeshadow)

6. ColourPop Birthday Girl (Eyeshadow)

7. ColourPop Stereo (Eyeshadow)

These are all beautiful colours, but I haven’t used any of them in quite awhile. I tried to pick colours that would work well with my Tartelette Matte palette.

8. The Balm Matte Moskowitz (Eyeshadow)

Other than swatching this deluxe eyeshadow sample, I think that I might have only worn this once since getting it in an Ipsy Glam bag a few months ago.

9. NudeStix Pulse (Lip & Cheek Stick)

This was lost in my stash for ages, I’d completely forgotten that I got this at last year’s Ipsy Generation Beauty event last May.

Skin, Body, and Hair Care:

Spring Cleaning Project Pan Collab

10. Sukin Facial Scrub

I have several scrubs in my skincare stash, this one was the oldest one, so thats how it ended up in this round of panning.

11. Tarte Maracuja Oil

I picked this facial oil so that I will finally get around to reviewing it!

12. Haus of Gloi Pumpkin Butter – Rosy Cheeks

13. Haus of Gloi Pumpkin Butter – Cozy Rose

I still have a few other jars of Pumpkin Butter in my stash. I’ve banned myself from buying anything from HoG until I use up more of my stash!

14. Smith’s Rosebud Salve

Another lip balm that was lost in the house. Now that I’ve found it, I’m going to use it up!

15. The Body Shop Grapeseed Glossing Serum

When I first got this hair serum, I used it all the time. I just want to finish it!

16. Garnier Fructus Style De-Constructed Beach Chic

Someone gave this to me because they didn’t like the scent. I haven’t used it since the summer, but since I mostly wear my hair wavy, it is a good excuse to maybe finish it. If I don’t finish it by the end of this project pan, it will be going in the trash, or given away.

This time around, I’ll be using Stashy’s scientific method for measuring progress – I’ve weighed each of the products on my new little kitchen scale, so I can keep track of how much I will have used up each month.

November Empties

Hello, hello!

I know that November isn’t over yet, but I also know that I am not close enough to finishing anything else in my stash. Any products that I finished from my Project Pan Collab are not included in these empties.

November Empties (2016)

As you can see, I only finished up a few products this month.

Makeup Empties:

November Empties (2016)

Nyx HD Studio Photogenic Foundation (reviewed here) – Would I buy it again? Probably not, but only because I’m only going to buy foundations / BB creams with SPF in them from now on. But despite this, this foundation worked great for my skin.

Nyx Dark Circle Corrector (reviewed here) -I didn’t actually finish this one, it is getting pitched because it dried out so badly that it is unusable. Would I buy again? Probably not as it didn’t work as well for me as the  Becca Undereye Brightening Corrector (reviewed here).

Nyx Above & Beyond Full Coverage Concealer (reviewed here) – Repurchase? Maybe. I really liked this concealer but it got pushed to the back of my stash when I was trying new concealers. It works great when my skin is normal, but not so great when my skin gets dry.

The Body Shop Wonderblur (reviewed here). I really liked this primer when I first purchased it. But when I used it recently, it was terrible and pilled when I wore it under my Nars Sheer Glow Foundation. Initially the two worked well together. Maybe it dried out? I’m not sure. Would I repurchase?  Probably not.

Body Care:

Nov Empties (2016)

Schmidt’s Natural Deodorant in Ylang-Ylang & Calendula – (reviewed here). Already repurchased, this time in Cedarwood & Juniper scent. This natural deodorant works great for me, but I can’t use it every single day as it will start to irritate my skin due to the baking soda content so I switch to one of the baking soda free natural deodorants in my stash on days when I’m working from home.

Cake Beauty Delectable Hand Cream in Strawberries & Cream – (reviewed here). Would I repurchase? Maybe, but in a different scent. This was a struggle to finish, because in spite of it being a really great hand cream, the scent was too much for me!

Earth Science Naturals Deodorant  in Mint Rosemary – (reviewed here). Would I repurchase? I probably will once I use up a few more deodorants in my stash. It works pretty well but not as well as the Schmidt’s. But it is great to use when my underarm skin needs a little break from the Schmidt’s as it doesn’t contain baking soda.

Haircare:

Nov Empties (2016)

CO LAB Dry Shampoo in Rio tropical scent – (reviewed here). I’ve been buying this one since last winter, and it made its first appearance in my March Empties post. Already repurchased. I think that I finish up one of these every couple of months. I like this one because it has a mild scent and doesn’t make my hair feel dried out that way that a lot of dry shampoos make my hair feel.

So there you have it, not very many empties, but I’m happy to be clearing out my stash.

Thanks for reading and have a beautiful day! ❤

April 2016 Empties

April 2016 Empties

Hello, hello!

Can you believe that April is nearly over already? Just a few products used up this month:

April 2016 Empties

Hair and Body Care:

April 2016 Empties

The Body Shop, Deep Sleep Comforting Milk Bath Float – I loved this foaming bath milk. If I didn’t have a stash of bath and body products to use up, I would buy this one again. The original review is here.

The Body Shop, Wild Rose Hand Cream – I loved this hand cream, but the metal tube cracked and split open before I was finished using it. Not only did it leak hand cream every time I used it, it was sharp enough to slice open my finger. I won’t repurchase this unless they change to a different packaging. The original review is here.

Consonant, Intensive Therapy Organic Hand Cream – Stashy sent this one to me as a part of her Totally Awesome Giveaway. I love, love, loved this hand cream. I will be purchasing a replacement the next time that I make an order from well.ca. The original review is here.

CO LAB, sheer invisible dry shampoo in Rio scent – This is my second can of this dry shampoo. It works well and I like the scent. I’ll be picking up a replacement this afternoon. The original review is here in my March Empties post.

Skincare Empties:

April 2016 Empties

Oz Naturals, Hyaluronic Acid Facial Serum – I’ve gone through several of these serums since my first purchase. Love this stuff. I’m currently testing out some other products right now, but will likely re-purchase this at some point as it works so well with my finicky skin. The original review is here.

Naruko, Rose & Botanic HA Aqua Cubic Night Gelly EX – this stuff is so amazing. I love the rose scent (true rose, not cloying synthetic rose scent). It made my skin so soft, smooth and glowing. I’m currently testing out some other products right now, but will likely purchase this at some point as it works so well with my skin. The original review is here.

Oz Naturals, Vitamin C Facial Cleanser – I liked this cleanser more than the Ocean Minerals one. It worked well for my sensitive skin. I might repurchase at some point, but I’m testing out some new things right now. The original review is here.

Make-up Empties:

Both liquid liners are from Essence. I didn’t use them very often and the pen dried out, and the wand got clumpy – both from lack of use. Despite having a big love for Essence, I won’t be repurchasing either of these liners. The original reviews are here.

That’s all for now. Thanks for reading and have a beautiful day! ❤

Shea Soap and Olive Soap from The Body Shop

The Body Shop Shea Soap

Hello, hello! Just a short little review of two soaps from The Body Shop – Shea Soap and Olive Soap.

The Body Shop Shea Soap and Olive Soap

Here’s what it says about the Shea Soap:

BEST IF YOU WANT TO: Cleanse and moisturize your skin in one step with a vegetable-based soap that has a fresh, creamy scent everyone will enjoy.

BEST FOR: very dry skin

Here’s what it says about the Olive Soap:

Cleanse away the stress of the day while detoxing body and soul with the light and fresh scent of The Body Shop Olive Soap. This vegetable-based soap softens skin with Community Trade Olive Oil from Italy.

My experience: Both of these soaps are super creamy and really moisturizing on my skin. I like that they have a very mild scent. Perfect soaps for sensitive skin, unless you have a sensitivity or allergy to shea butter or olive oil.

I just realized that the Shea Soap resembles a peeled potato. But I assure you that it is soap!

I collect china tea cups. I will probably start using them as props, since they are so pretty and spring-like.

Thanks for reading and have a beautiful day! ❤

Disclosure: I purchased these things!

Giveaway Haulage from Stash Matters!

So the lovely Stashy recently had an insane giveaway extravaganza to celebrate her one year blogiversary, and I was lucky enough to win a runner-up prize package. And I have to say, it was extremely generous and filled with loads of awesomeness! I’ve had a chance to try almost everything out, and I wanted to show you what I won as well as to express my gratitude to her. THANK YOU STASHY! ❤

Stash Matter's Runner Up Giveaway Haulage

First of all, there was a lovely card and note inside the package.

Stash Matter's Runner Up Giveaway Haulage

A package of super swanky facial cotton pads from Shiseido. As I said in my recent empties post, I normally just buy whichever facial cotton pads are on sale because I figured that there wasn’t a huge difference. Well, let me tell you, I was so wrong! These facial cotton pads are LUXURIOUS! So soft, and non-linty.

Stash Matter's Runner Up Giveaway Haulage

A tube of the most amazing hand cream that I’ve ever used! The Intensive Therapy Organic Hand Cream from Consonant is so good, I’ve been using it non-stop. It has a lovely mild herbal scent (despite being called “unscented”), and it is non-greasy and moisturizes my poor dry hands like BUTTAH! I will definitely be buying a replacement tube of this.

Stash Matter's Runner Up Giveaway Haulage

A travel sized bottle of The Perfect Sunscreen, also from Consonant! I haven’t tried this yet as I’m saving it for the warmer weather, but if it is anything like the hand cream in terms of quality, then I’m probably going to love it. Plus it is SPF30, so it will be put to good use.

Stash Matter's Runner Up Giveaway Haulage

A super soft little makeup brush from Anna Sui! The handle is to pretty – the end looks like a rose.

A sweet little pair of earphones. I had recently broken mine, and had not gotten around to replacing them, so this was perfect! Look how cute and colourful they are!

A mini kabuki type make-up brush from The Body Shop! It is so soft, I’m always playing with it because I cannot believe how SOFT it is!

Stash Matter's Runner Up Giveaway Haulage

A Wet n Wild Coloricon Bronzer SPF15 in shade Reserve Your Cabana! As Stashy said, this is a highlighting shade, not an actual bronzer.

The pan is ENORMOUS! I think that I’ve worn it just about EVERY SINGLE DAY since my package arrived, it is a perfect shade for me!

This was a runner-up prize, can you believe it? AMAZING AND AWESOMETASTIC!

Thanks again Stashy! ❤

Moisture White Shiso 2 in 1 Brightening Eye Cream

Hello, hello!

Today I’m reviewing the Moisture White Shiso 2 in 1 Brightening Eye Cream from The Body Shop.

The Body Shop Moisture White Shiso 2 in 1 Brightening Eye Cream

Here’s what it says on the US website:

Moisture White Shiso 2 in 1 Brightening Eye Cream, brightens and targets signs of fatigue around the eye area.

  • Skin feels fresher, smoother, and instantly cool*

  • Darkened skin around the eye looks visibly brighter*

My experience: I don’t have very good luck with eye creams as most of them tend to irritate my eyes. This one is lovely, highly moisturizing, but not greasy, and it plays nicely with my under-eye concealer. It does make the under eye area appear smoother and brighter. I don’t think that anything can actually fully eliminate dark circles unless there is a cure for insomnia and allergies / sinus problems. But most importantly it does not irritate my eyes.

This eye cream has disappeared from the Canadian website, I fear that it may have been discontinued. *Stashy had suggested that this was the case after speaking with a sales associate*. I’m a little sad because I really love this eye cream, and think that this might have been “the one” for me. I guess the search continues…

Ingredients:

Aqua/Water/Eau (Solvent/Diluent), C12-15 Alkyl Benzoate (Emollient), Butylene Glycol (Humectant), Glycerin (Humectant), Isopropyl Palmitate (Emollient), Butyrospermum Parkii Butter/Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter (Skin Conditioning Agent – Emollient), Glyceryl Stearate (Emulsifier), Tapioca Starch Polymethylsilsesquioxane (Absorbent/Anticaking Agent), Dimethicone (Skin Conditioning Agent), Cera Alba/Beeswax/Cire d’abeille (Emulsifier/Emollient), Neopentyl Glycol Diheptanoate (Skin Conditioning Agent – Emollient), PEG-100 Stearate (Surfactant), Cetearyl Alcohol (Emulsifier), Hydrogenated Polyisobutene (Emollient), Isododecane (Solvent), Pentylene Glycol (Solvent), Glyceryl Stearate SE (Emulsifier), Mica (Opacifying Agent), Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice (Skin Conditioning Agent), Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate (Skin Conditioning Agent), Phenoxyethanol (Preservative), Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer (Stabiliser/Viscosity Modifier), Caprylyl Glycol (Skin Conditioning Agent), Simmondsia Chinensis Seed Oil/Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil (Hair & Skin Conditioning Agent), Dimethicone/Vinyl Dimethicone Crosspolymer (Viscosity Increasing Agent), Sodium Hydroxide (pH Adjuster), Ascorbyl Palmitate (Antioxidant), Perilla Ocymoides Seed Oil (Skin-Conditioning Agent), Xanthan Gum (Viscosity Modifier), Glycine Soja Oil/Glycine Soja (Soybean) Oil (Emollient/Skin Conditioner), Disodium EDTA (Chelating Agent), Victoria Amazonica Flower Extract (Fragrance Ingredient), Glycyrrhiza Glabra Root Extract/Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Licorice) Root Extract (Conditioning Agent, Humectant), Leuconostoc/Radish Root Ferment Filtrate (Skin Conditioning Agent), Citric Acid (pH Adjuster), CI 77891/Titanium Dioxide (Colorant).

The Body Shop’s Deep Sleep Comforting Milk Bath Float

Hello, hello! Happy Friday!

Today I’m reviewing the Deep Sleep Comforting Milk Bath Float from The Body Shop from my recent haul.

The Body Shop Deep Sleep Comforting Milk Bath Float

Here’s what it says about the Deep Sleep:

BEST IF YOU WANT TO: Prepare for a good night’s sleep with a long, unwinding soak using this dreamy bath treatment that helps to calm and relax the body.

The Body Shop Deep Sleep Comforting Milk Bath Float

Ingredients (since it is near impossible to read on the bottle):

Water, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Limonene, Styrene/Acrylates Copolymer, Glucose, PEG-18 Glyceryl Oleate/Cocoate, Sodium Chloride, Acrylates Copolymer, PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Trideceth-9, Sodium Cocoa Butter Amphoacetate, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Oil, Hydrolyzed Milk Protein, Hydrolyzed Oats, Citrus Medica Limonum (Lemon) Oil, Linalool, Sodium Hydroxide, Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil, Propylene Glycol, Lavandula Hybrida Oil, Disodium EDTA, Citric Acid, Glycerin, Anthemis Nobilis (Chamomile) Oil, Humulus Lupulus (Hops), C11-15 Pareth-40, C11-15 Pareth-7, Citral, Citrus Aurantium Amara (Bitter Orange) Oil, Zizyphus Jujuba Fruit Extract, Glucose Oxidase, Lactoperoxidase.

The Body Shop Deep Sleep Comforting Milk Bath Float

My experience: As you might know, I love taking baths, and I love bath products. But I have weirdly sensitive skin, so it is often a risky endeavour when it comes to trying new bath products. To test for skin reaction, I first filled the sink with hot water and the Deep Sleep and stuck my hands and wrists into the water and waited to see if there was any reaction before filling up the bathtub and putting my whole body at risk. Trust me on this one, the one time that I didn’t do a patch test on my wrist, I ended up with a nearly head to toe skin reaction. And that is never fun! Once I was fairly certain that this was a “safe” product for my skin, I immediately filled the tub up and hopped in.

The Deep Sleep Comforting Milk Bath Float is LOVELY. I felt so relaxed and my skin was so soft after a nice hot soak. The scent is not overpowering, I can smell the chamomile, hops, and lavender (lavandula hybrida) which is so soothing and relaxing. I love this. You won’t get a crazy amount of bubbles like you would with a Lush bubble bar, but I was surprised at the amount of bubbles that I got.

The Deep Sleep also plays nicely with some eucalyptus essential oil added in the bath with it – which is what I did last week when I was still recovering from the death plague.

It is currently on sale on the Canadian Body Shop website for $10 (regularly $24 for 400ml / 3.5 fl oz).

Thanks for reading and have a beautiful day! ❤
