Pixi Correction Concentrate (Colour Correcting Concealer) Review

Hello, hello – welcome to / welcome back to A Brash Attitude!

Pixi Correction Concentrate - Colour Correcting Concealer

Today I’m reviewing the Pixi Beauty Correction Concentrate Colour Correcting Concealer that I bought last week and have been testing out daily. It is supposed to be a drugstore dupe for my well-loved Becca Cosmetics Under Eye Brightening Corrector that I’ve been purchasing (and re-purchasing) since 2016. I was looking for a dupe because Becca Cosmetics had announced that they were closing in Fall 2021. Smashbox just announced that they will be releasing both the Under Eye Corrector and the Shimmering Skin Perfector in October. [info in italics taken from the Shoppers Beauty website]

Pixi Correction Concentrate - Colour Correcting Concealer

Highly pigmented, this correction concealer instantly erases darkness, softens and blurs lines. Skin immediately looks fresh, rested, bright and youthful. This ultimate ‘good night’s sleep in a jar’ camouflage cream is correction perfection in a pot.

Pixi Correction Concentrate - Colour Correcting Concealer

Instantly erases dark circles & blends magically into skin tone. Concentrated correction cream instantly neutralizes darkness around eyes or anywhere that needs brightening. Contains vitamins A, C & E and rose hip extract. Paraben free. Not tested on animals.

On the package it says that this is for medium skintones – I didn’t notice this until I got home, and was a little nervous as I’m on the light end of the skintone spectrum! The Pixi Correction Concentrate is a similar peachy salmon shade as the Becca Brightening Corrector, and it works well to blend away my dark circles.

It isn’t as creamy as the Becca, but I always wear eye cream, so it isn’t a problem for me, and I haven’t had any issues with creasing or dryness. I’ve tried applying and blending it out using my fingers, a sponge, with a concealer brush and with a foundation brush – it works well with all application methods that I’ve tried. I think that it is a good budget friendly dupe!

Have you tried this one?

FLOWER Beauty Light Illusion Concealer Review

Hello, hello – welcome to / welcome back to A Brash Attitude!

Today I have a review of the FLOWER Beauty Light Illusion Full Coverage Concealer that I recently purchased from well.ca – this is the first product that I’ve tried from this cruelty-free brand [info in italics taken from the FLOWER Beauty website].

We have the secret so that you can fake your 8 hours in a flash… Light Illusion Full Coverage Concealer. Our weightless concealer provides dark circle diffusing illumination with our exclusive blurring pigments. A high coverage concealer it imparts a subtle radiance as it conceals discolorations. The formula instantly diminishes the appearance of imperfections, fine lines, and signs of fatigue for a flawless luminous look. Our creamy texture blends seamlessly.

I picked this up to try to find a more budget friendly replacement for the Becca Under Eye Brightening Corrector. I’ve been using the one from Becca since 2016 – but the brand is closing down later this year, so I wanted to start testing out potential replacements.

I picked the shade L1-2 Fair, and it is a pretty good match for me shade-wise despite looking super dark in the tube. It adds luminosity / brightness to the under-eye area, and does a pretty decent job at camouflaging dark circles. I don’t find it to be as hydrating as the Becca Under Eye. I tried it both with and without my eye cream, – I’d advise using an eye cream before applying so it won’t look or feel dry.

Application-wise, it works well with fingers, concealer brush or a sponge – it all depends on your preference. The coverage is buildable too. I like to apply a very thin amount for the most natural looking coverage. The Light Illusion Concealer is available in 12 shades, ranging from L0 Porcelain to D4 Mocha with the bulk of the shades in the light to medium shade range – the brand needs to expand their darker shades.

Overall, it definitely is not a dupe for the Becca Under Eye Brightening Corrector, but it is a pretty good brightening concealer. My search continues for a true replacement.

Hey Honey Active Propolis Cream Concealer Review

Hello, hello!

I received the Hey Honey Active Propolis Cream Concealer in my October GlamBag and I’ve been wear testing it for several days and feel ready to review it. This is the second product from Hey Honey that I’ve gotten from Ipsy. [info in italics is taken from the Hey Honey website]

WHAT IS IT:
An active cream concealer that minimizes the appearance of dark circles and other discolorations around the eye area.

WHY USE IT:
This highly pigmented cream treatment concealer combines a special blend of amino acid Proline and Vitamin E to provide an anti-wrinkle effect for a smoother appearance. Emollient oils support the lipid layer of the skin, minimizing visibility of fine lines.

WHO IS IT FOR:
Normal to Dry Skin Types

HOW TO USE:
Gently squeeze cream from the tube onto a clean fingertip. Apply a small quantity to the under-eye area. A second layer may be applied, until perfect coverage is achieved. Can be used alone, under or on top of foundation.
I always use an undereye concealer, even on days that I’m not wearing foundation – my usual one is the Becca Under Eye Brightening Corrector (review is here). So how does the Hey Honey one compare?
As you can see in the swatches below – the Hey Honey concealer is peachy toned, whereas the Becca concealer is more pink toned. Both blend well with my skin tone.
HeyHoney4
I was surprised by how moisturizing this concealer is. A little goes a LOOOOOONG way, the first time I tested it out, I had enough concealer for days, haha! It works well to conceal dark circles and brighten the under eye. I haven’t had any issues with creasing either. All in all, I think that this is a great under eye concealer!
It seems to only be available in one shade – natural tone.  I’m doubtful that it would work for darker skintones, but maybe I’m wrong. I’d like to see it swatched on several different skintones to know for sure.
