Empties – August 2021

Hello, hello – welcome to / welcome back to A Brash Attitude!

Today I have my empties for the month of August. I didn’t finish up a ton of things this month, but progress is progress when it comes to using things up, and not letting them go to waste. I’ll link you to my original reviews and let you know if I would purchase / re-purchase (eventually) or not.

Empties August 2021

Garnier Skinactive UltraLift Night Cream – Purchased by me. This was a nice night cream, super hydrating, but because it is so highly scented, I would not purchase it again – unless they made an unscented / fragrance free version.

Noughty To The Rescue Intense Moisture Treatment – Purchased by me. I love this hair mask, it has a light sweet almond scent (not over-scented), and makes my hair so soft and hydrated. I would buy this again eventually.

Sun Bum Mineral Tinted Sunscreen Face Lotion SPF 30 Review – Purchased by me. I had this on my face about 80% of the time all summer, so yeah, I love it. I would buy this again.

Garnier Skinactive Clearly Brighter Even Tone Daily Moisturizer SPF30 – Purchased by me. I used this moisturizer with SPF daily all summer. It is lightweight, hydrating and non-greasy. It isn’t as highly scented as the night cream above. I do prefer mineral SPFs more, but would buy this in a pinch again.

Versed Press Restart Gentle Retinol Serum – Purchased by me. This is a great “starter retinol”, super gentle. I might buy it again. I have a few retinol serums on my wishlist that I want to try.

So that’s it – everything that I managed to finish over the past month! Have you tried any of these products?

Cumulative Empties – March and April 2021

Hello, hello – welcome to / welcome back to A Brash Attitude!

Can you believe that it is already May? Today I have my cumulative empties for March and April. I was *so* close to finishing up a few more things too, but I’m sure they’ll appear in my next empties post.

Skincare:

I think that I did great over the past two months to finish up so many things from my skincare stash!

Pure Savy Come Hell or High Water 3-In-1 Micellar Water *Cert Clean Jury Box 2019-2020* – I found this micellar water to be a little on the soapy side, but it worked really well for removing eye makeup. I have several eye makeup remover products in my stash, so I don’t need to even think about purchasing this.

Versed Dew Point Moisturizing Gel Cream – *I purchased this* I loved this light gel moisturizer. I would likely repurchase this one as it played so well with makeup. A great day moisturizer for my normal to dry skin. Review

Sothys Hydra3Ha Hydrating Comfort Cream *PR package* – This was great for the cold winter weather when my skin needed extra hydration at night. It is a little more scented that my personal preference. Review

Poetic Blend The Hero Oil and The Ghost Oil *Giveaway Prize win* – I loved both of these facial oils. I think that the brand is on hiatus (if someone knows for sure, please let me know) so I don’t think that I could purchase. Review and review

Andalou Naturals Apricot Probiotic Cleansing Milk *Subscription Box* – This was such a lovely creamy cleanser. I would purchase this if I didn’t have a few more cream based cleansers to finish up. Review

Be On Me Cleansing Mousse Sensitive Skin *PR package* – I loved this foaming cleanser, it was super gentle but super effective. I would purchase this once I use up a few more cleansers from my stash. Review

Lowen’s Make Room Balm *PR package* – This is a balm for stretch marks and scars, but I used it all winter on my poor dry hands, and it worked amazingly well. Their balms are really great, would definitely need one in my stash before winter! Review

Haircare:

I only managed to finish up two haircare products, but progress is progress.

NatureLab Tokyo Perfect Repair Conditioner *PR package* – This was an amazing conditioner, it worked really well for hydrating my hair. I would love to try more from this brand – hopefully they will be selling in Canada at some point. Review

EVOLVh UltraShine Moisture Conditioner *I purchased this, but I’ve also received PR from the brand before* – Such an amazing conditioner. It hydrates, it smells amazing. I’d buy this again. I’m almost finished the matching shampoo. Review

There you have it! Everything that I’ve finished over the last two months. Have you finished up much lately?

Versed Zero-G Smoothing Eye Cream Review

Hello, hello – welcome to / welcome back to A Brash Attitude!

Today I’m reviewing the Versed Zero-G Smoothing Eye Cream. I purchased, and have been using it for several weeks now. [info in italics taken from the Shoppers Drug Mart website]

Velvety cream with algae extract and peptides to firm the under eyes with a hint of light- reflecting illumination, thanks to finely-milled, ethically-sourced mica.

Rich eye cream for improving the appearance of fine lines Smoothing algae extract and firming peptides Made for aging skin Clean, cruelty-free, vegan

This is a really nice eye cream – it is hydrating but not heavy feeling, and the mica adds radiance, and the vitamin C adds brightening to my under-eyes. It plays nicely with my under-eye concealer too – always a plus!

The texture of the eye cream is velvety and quick to sink in. I use it morning and night.

It’s super affordable at less than $25 CAD – and it is often on sale at Shoppers Drug Mart / Pharmaprix!

Have you tried this eye cream?

Versed Press Restart Gentle Retinol Serum Review

Hello, hello – welcome to / welcome back to A Brash Attitude!

Today I’m reviewing the Versed Press Restart Gentle Retinol Serum that I purchased and have been testing for a few weeks now. [info in italics taken from the Shoppers Drug Mart website]

Retexturizing night serum that uses gentle encapsulated retinol and two natural botanical retinol alternatives to help speed up cell turnover, boost collagen production, and smooth wrinkles without irritation.

Creamy yet light texture absorbs seamlessly into skin Made for aging, dullness, and problem skin Clean, cruelty-free, vegan.

This would be a great “starter” retinol if you are new to retinol based products, or if you have sensitive skin. After doing my usual 24 hour patch test, I started using it nightly with no irritation or dryness. The serum is milky in appearance and absorbs quickly, and doesn’t feel sticky or heavy.

Reminder – retinol really should only be used at night, and if you are using retinol, always wear SPF – you should be wearing sunscreen daily regardless of retinol usage!

Have you tried this retinol serum?

Versed Dew Point Moisturizing Gel-Cream Review

Hello, hello, welcome to / welcome back to A Brash Attitude!

Today I’m reviewing the Versed Dew Point Moisturizing Gel-Cream that I bought for myself recently. Versed is a cruelty free and vegan drugstore brand. [info in italics taken from the Versed website]

Let’s take a look at the moisturizer:

If you want to keep your skin hydrated but don’t like the feel of traditional cream textures, meet your new moisturizer match. The lightweight gel-cream formula with a jelly-like texture absorbs instantly and disappears into your skin, leaving it feeling refreshed, never greasy. Basically, it’s ideal for those warmer months when heavier moisturizers tend to weigh you down—or simply if you deal with oily, breakout-prone skin 365 days a year. Sodium hyaluronate (like hyaluronic acid it helps draw in and retain moisture in skin) and aloe leaf juice hydrate while natural antioxidants found in green tea soothe skin, fight damaging free radicals, and quiet inflammation.

This is a super light weight gel type moisturizer. It absorbs quickly, and is surprisingly hydrating. I’ve been using it with my Way of Will Brightening Serum and Grace & Stella Hyaluronic Acid Serum. The jelly texture makes it feel so refreshing when applied. I plan on trying a few more things from this brand as they are super affordable.
